That's what he was trying to tell you, be sure to strengthen your knuckles. 100 reps of full force concrete wall punching supersetted with 100 knuckle pushups on gravel (that's the important part, the pain locks in the gain). Do that and watch some Floyd Mayweather videos on Youtube and you'll be beating the **** out of any other high schooler that messes with you.

    Go to a boxing gym.

i am strenthning my knuckles start small build my way up
edit: thats plan stupid using full force on an object that doesnt move. might as well try and stop a car in trafic by putting your hands out to stop a car moving a 70mph.

I was joking, definitely do not try and strengthen your knuckles. Any serious knuckle conditioning severely ****s with your hand mobility and function by the time you're in your 30s - people who do that at your age severely regret it.

Yes you should have a better chance of winning ! Don't go out looking for a fight or thinking your hard because you have trained yourself for 5 months tho lol ! Only fight as a last resort ! Get to a boxing gym and see where your really at :good

Tried it, doesn't work. I was way better than the other newbs, but they've all since become better than me because my bad habits hold me back.

And you don't break your knuckles when you hit someone, you break your metacarpals. When you see a jagged bone sticking out the back of your hand, you'll be moderately displeased. And then get your ass kicked.

I really don't get why so many people (newbs, generally) come here 'asking for advice' - only to ignore anyone who says something contrary to what they want to hear.

What I got out of the posts are that this kid wants to fight people (using the 'self defence' schtick as a cover), and is wondering if boxing is applicable on 'the street'...

If you are interested in boxing go to a gym and learn. Just in case you didn't catch that, here it is again, but bigger and in a jazzy colour to catch your attention:

ok i am taking there advice i cant learn much with out a gym, its bad to condtion my knuckles, i dont want to fight i want to be able to defend my self if it ever comes my way. I highly doubt it will come my way because i dont talk to anyone because i moved. orginally when moved to were i am i had made freonds but all theu did was make fun of me, take my books at lunch, etc so i told the principle and decided being made fun by my so called freinds wasnt what i wanted, and i walked away because fighting them would have been stupid. I wasnt cofidnet but when i started lifting i became confident in my strength and size. Your assumming i want to go around and start fights well i don’t want to and know i have the cofidnce to be able to walk were i wnat to walk and when i may not be a boxer but atleast i know how to throw more punches then just haymakers.

If you still dont belive me well thats your problem but you writing in a dicky fashion like that doesnt make anything better.

I know boxing would be good in self defnse and again your assuming that i want to fight people i dont and in all honesty i would rather people in my school just leave me alone but well people can be dickheads, and i cant controll when they try and attack me.

    This topic is hilarious.

You shouldn't box. Judging from your English you have enough brain damage already

    I am self trained.

I dont train in a public gym - I train at home - and do my own routine.

Thats ok for me - cos I have done it for years - and know what I am doing and know what works for me.

I just train to keep in shape - not for competion.

I dont spar - but I do have someone who when available takes me on a drill on the pads every week.

In the past - I have trained in boxing gym - and learnt the basics of style and stance and footwork - and how to use your legs to generate power through into your punches and defensive work - like parrying down punches , etc- which all helps and also sparred many rounds which gave me experience.

I'm happy to self train - now - because I aint going anywhere - competiton wise - just keeping in shape.

Its possible I could train in a real boxing gym again - or any kind of gym - but only if I feel like - I know one guy who goes out to Thailand and places like that and trains there now and again.

It depends what your aspirations are ?

If you really want to learn boxing skills - you got to go to a real gym and spend time with a trainer and around mopre experienced boxers than yourself -

For basic fitness - there is no reason why you cannot get in shape training yourself - as long as you have the focus and determnation to do so.
