It's the third round and Ali has his timing down. He dances in and out, and pot-shots Vitali with jabs and quick rights. Vitali has never been in with someone with this much movement and speed, and he's struggling to adjust. It's like there are two of him in the ring, and he's always punching the wrong one and being punched by the right one.

Still, Ali seems to be hitting Vitali with everything, and Vitali is scarcely acknowledging that he's being hit. Sure, he's a bit slow, but the sheer force of the man takes Ali aback. At least Liston was able to be hurt. This strange Soviet is almost machine-like, he thinks to himself, and he's not the least bit deterred by Ali's onslaught. Meanwhile, even though he wouldn't admit it to his corner, or even to himself, those jabs Vitali occasionally lands HURT. It stops Ali in his tracks every time it lands. A JAB.

The bell rings, and Ali has taken a 2-1 lead on the cards. There's a slight sense of trepidation in Ali's corner. They're not entirely sure how to deal with an opponent like this other than to keep dancing. But if Ali gets caught with one of those big commie rights, or starts to tire, even a little....?

if it's that simple?? that's all you've got??

when are you going to post something that isn't garbage?

that version of Ali is the one that most claim was in his absolute prime. so take it up with them, not me.

I could literally name doze s of non American fighters who receive huge accolades from Americans. Personally I would like to see the lists from non Americans giving huge accolades to fighters like Vits and their reasons why. Seems to be a VERY short list since I've asked this question here and on other forums only to have it go unanswered.

No I meant that styles make fights and this is a specific head to head match-up, not a comparison on who is a greater (as in more revered, higher ranking) fighter in general.

Fair enough. Head to head Ali proved he could dominate bigger fighters. None as big as Vits of course, but Vits, in his prime, quit against and only landed 8 more punches against Byrd who was slower, not as slick, as hard punching, as big or as fast as Ali either of hand and foot. Take the fighters at their absolute best and Ali is a no brainer.

Style do make fights, aand Lewis is a larger version of Ali with fewer skills.
Yet, Vitali couldn't beat this sub-version of Ali.
Of course now the only option you have is that Lewis would beat Ali, but having seen them both fight, I seriously doubt it.

Anyone who believes either Klit has a chance against Ali is in serious need of electro-shock therapy and a warm bed in the psycho unit.

Vitali destroyed Larry Donald - Ali clone. He would have no problem handling Ali.

    Great comparison.
Forget Holmes, Lewis and Bowe. Larry Donald is as close to an Ali that you can get. :nut

"if Ali is this supposed skill machine who outboxed so called great fighters without being touched, and had all these skills and ring smarts, as those who played out this bull**** propaganda for years on ESPN kept telling us. why didn't he have the capabilities to block a simple left hook against Frazier??? because that's all Frazier used in the ring. the same left hook, over and over again. but Ali could do nothing but get the **** kicked out of him. "

OK, I always hate this: 'But you didn't answer my question!!' cack, we know this is super-trolling but still, let me break it down for you:
"if Ali is this supposed skill machine who outboxed so called great fighters without being touched.... "
I have never said or suggested this.
"and had all these skills and ring smarts, as those who played out this bull**** propaganda for years on ESPN kept telling us...."
He did have skills and ring smarts....yes.....
"why didn't he have the capabilities to block a simple left hook against Frazier???..."
Umm...he did. And they fought boxing matches and Ali blocked Frazier's left-handed punches time and again. It's on film. Quite famous in boxing circles....
"because that's all Frazier used in the ring."
No, it isn't. You are wrong in saying that. Check the film if you are unsure...look carefully now. You can spot it if you keep your eyes open and look.
"but Ali could do nothing but get the **** kicked out of him. "
    That is untrue.
There we go. Paint by numbers, your question answered....and furthermore:
    DOINK!

Just like he knocked out Chris Byrd and Lennox Lewis?

Lewis whose chin was probably worse than Nortons?

    GTFOH.

Vitali cant break a ****ing egg.
Name me 5 of Vitalis best KO wins

    Norton was above those bums.

Ali stopped Frazier, Vitali couldnt even stop the poor mans version (Chisora)

next your gonna tell me Chisora was better than Frazier right?

I would say Vitali, when he wants to engage and not box, could put almost anyone away. After Lennox we saw a man who thought he was invincible to being KO'd. Id pick Ali by TKO cuts
