Stanley Ketchel in his short prime weighed almost 170lb when he didnt have to make the middleweight limit. Without the weight cut he'd be even more formidable I hope. Fast, extremely powerful, unbelievable motor, heaps of pressure. If the legends are true he will certainly trap Roy on the ropes at some point and finish him off.

The only one I think could have a chance at that weight is Hearns. Reason being Hearns height, reach, excellent jab,and that big right hand. I can see Jones being overly cautious against Hearns, waiting to land that perfect counter shot, instead of taking the fight to Hearns (that wasn't in Jones dna against a dangerous foe) Meanwhile Hearns is piling on the points behind that super left jab. Jones certainly had the ability to blast Hearns out at any given moment in the fight, but would he take the chance?

When Calzaghe was slapping Jones around 10 years ago the color commentator made a point to say how far removed from his prime Jones was, but Emmanuel Steward spoke up and said Calzaghe would give any version of Jones a very hard fight. His word is good enough for me.

I love Manny Steward but on that one, I think he's wrong.

"give a hard fight" does not equal "beat."

    Jones W UD 12 Calzaghe.

Yes Steward was implying that Calzaghe would always be a tough match for jones and could win. Not necessarily would win. We'll never know.

Nobody at 168 beats him IMO.

    Hmmm...I'd vacillate among

    Hearns
    Fitzsimmons
    Charles
    Greb

And probably end up sending Charles, as he's more proven through available footage than Fitz or Greb and probably just better overall than Hearns. I think any one of them probably has a shot.

Maybe not, but I don't think it's obvious.

A fighter who relies as heavily on reflexes as Jones will almost never age well. (Ali, as in so many other ways is a rare exception.)

Hagler, with a little muscle added to get to 168 could take him out.

That's an interesting thought. Hagler had the chin and the boxing ability to give Jones all kinds of problems.
