He was nowhere near Duran`s level.

Man we’ve only got footage of a defanged Dempsey, Dempsey wasn’t the same after Willard barely lifted a finger, Kearns was making them money. Watch all his fights his head movement was impeccable on a good night, he was good at staying behind the wall of his shoulder and a great combination puncher who punched with opponents, he didn’t have to take turns.

Joe Louis would decimate AJ pretty quickly, being that big don’t make him more skilled and it doesn’t look like it helps him take a punch… but it is a tall ask for a lot of HW champs, it’s a very physical division.

    Barbados Joe Walcott.
    Sam Langford.

Would be hilarious to see those little guys rough up and batter AJ.

Thats definitely not a given. Joshua's power has a weird way of not showing up against a lot of his opponents.

AJ should never be beaten by a sub 200 lb fighter, but at some point in a fight versus the very best, heart, chin and intangibles will be called into question.

A fighter who throws the right hand from that far out without setting up, leaving his chin in the air will get caught and I'm a believer that a man who gets above 180lbs in weight who is a monstrous hitter can KO anybody, given the right circumstances.

I would venture, Dempsey, Louis and Marciano.

Dempsey and Marciano have the power and upper body movement to get up and under AJ and catch him on the temple, make him do the stanky leg, with the aggression to finish him off.

Louis - can outbox AJ, lesser reach but superior timing, superior technique, better head movement and defence, tighter punches and faster hands.

The biggest issue with AJ is that once he gets lit up, he is going to swing for the fences and expose his chin and all three are capable of hurting him badly.

If he boxes cautiously and can protect his chin, then I still think all three could beat him by KO, but I can write the blueprint for him to win - I have strong doubts that he can do it for a full 15 rounds.

Look at the number of punches he slips in the Gibbons fight.

Did you see Duran`s opponents? He was able to slip 90% of Ray Leonard`s shots on the inside despite Ray`s hand speed, who the hell did Dempsey fight that ha Leonard`s hand speed, Duran also lasted the distance against Hagler even though Marvin had a 75 inch reach while Duran only had a 68 inch reach and no Willard was no Hagler.

Compare Gibbon`s to Ray Leonard, and Duran was competitive with Hagler who had a 75 inch reach and a better jab than Gibbons.
