Lennox excelled in football, basketball, and soccer. He could effortlessly lift 300 pounds for sets of 10. In short he was an athlete . He was 6'5 and didn't look fat at 255 pounds. He would be at worst a live dog against every heavyweight who came before him and after him. How
was he like the 5'8 225 pound Galento?

    He was the same species?

Some of the posts on here beggar belief - if nothing else it demonstrates that some still have cognitive dissonance about heavyweights (who would be light heavies and cruisers today) of the mythical 'golden age' being able to defeat the best super-heavyweight there has ever been.

Harry Wills or Jack Dempsey. Maybe, just maybe Joe Louis but I think he loses by mid round KO or wide decision. I think Lennox has everyone else’s number handedly.

Galento could do that stuff off a bender with some hookers in between.

Agree with this. Louis was amazing but Lennox either dispatches him mid rounds or wins a comfortable decision.

He wouldn’t need to be. His size, jab and right hand would keep Louis honest and off him. Louis had fast hands but he was largely flat footed, had average footwork compared to those in Lennox’s era and stood in front of his opponents which stacks the cards heavily in Lewis’s favour.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see Lewis beat Louis, but he sure as hell isn’t going to keep the Bomber off with that lazy, pawing jab of his.

Every weave will be a game of Russian Roulette! But Jack always feels lucky.

I reckon the same, more likely is Louis gets inside and wrecks havoc on Lewis in a blitz.

In a completely apathetic performance against Briggs, he had a scary moment or two and then dispatched him ease. I’m not saying Briggs is fit to even carry Louis’ jockstrap but he could bang and he landed clean on Lewis a few times. Lewis then realised it was a fight, clicked into gear and tore through him with ease. I think it might be much the same type of fight. But if the Lewis from Golota, Grant or Ruddock turned up it would be an early night with Louis having a canvas nap. I know it was early in his career and before he had suffered a loss but I feel Lewis’ most impressive performance in his entire career was against Ruddock.

A fully focused and motivated Lewis was truly a fearsome sight to behold and a total HTH nightmate for any heavy that ever lived, including even Ali.

Seriously ? That's your excuse for both guys getting blamed out early because Lewis excelled at teeing off against big, hittable guys ? Golata was out in a minute and Ruddock in a round and a half ... styles make fights and big, hittable guys were made to order for Lewis ...
