Don’t think Hopkins is strong enough to hold Dempsey off. Love his game though

Kovalev hasn't a clue about inside work and can't take body shots Dempsey would wreck him.Beterbiev can hit and is very strong,he is also easy to hit, and very predictable ,he ain't beating Dempsey in a shoot out. Hopkins would be on the deck claiming fouls all night. He hasnt the nuts to beat Jack.

Lightheavyweights seemed to do much better against Jack Dempsey than superheavyweights did!

Spinks would **** himself as he did with Tyson except this time he won't be nearly as big. He simply didn't have the durability (or at least the mental ability) (and that was at heavy) to take his shots. Moorer as well. His durability would let him down.

    Interesting point, not without merit.

Spinks' mental fortitude is vastly underrated. That Tyson fight was a write off and isn't representative of Spinks' mental toughness IMO.

Two months before the Qawi fight, Spinks' wife had died. Grief stricken in the locker room, he had to tell his daughter that her mother was never coming back and he broke into tears in doing so. Shortly after, he'd composed himself and put on the most disciplined and probably the best performance of his career.

He was also a hard-knock kid from the bits who had a hard life from the very start.

I read that Michael Spinks was bullied as a kid and his older brother had to defend him against the bullies and that he got into boxing to learn how to defend himself.

I've also read that, but I can't verify it. I've also read that their dad was a deadbeat and that they had to fend for themselves and eachother for most of their childhood. Again, can't verify it, but it sounds pretty believable to me.

Leon seemed to me to be more of a natural fighter. While Michael seemed like he would have been more docile. Even though, Michael turned out to be the superior trained fighter. Michael may have had a good chance of beating Dempsey but Leon gets run over.

Leon was certainly more entertaining IMO. Mike was always more skilled and talented, but Leon's hyper-aggressive style was so fun to watch, and the fact he chin was pants only made him more fun. He was in like 6 closet classics.

Yeah, Leon wouldn't last a round vs Dempsey, but I can see Mike beating a slightly declined/green version.

I think he may give a good account of himself vs a prime version. Dempsey was for all intents and purposes a less skilled mini Tyson. Now, if Spinks came in at 170-175 to fight Dempsey, I think that Spinks would simply be overpowered. If he came in at 200-208, being 6'2, he'd have been a giant heavyweight for that era. And extremely skilled as well. The Spinks that beat Holmes would be a tough ask for Dempsey.

To sum it up, the light heavyweight version of Michael eventually is stopped, the heavyweight version of Michael may win the day.

Nah can't see it tbh mate. Spinks' durability at heavyweight is a bit suspect. Holmes had him a bit hurt in the rematch, and Holmes couldn't punch like Dempsey.

Yeah but I also don't think that Jack could just walk through Spinks shots either. And Spinks, especially the HW version would at least be the equal of Gene Tunney.

I don't think 6'2 200 pound Spinks would be frightened of 6'0 190ish pound Dempsey. I can accept the hypothesis that Dempsey stops him, but it would be a very competitive matchup. It would be as if Spinks is fighting a modern day cruiserweight. Same could be said for Moorer.
