Good topic John and I like some of the responses.

Is it cheating to simply say Ali for everybody except:

Ali - Lewis
Lewis - Foreman
Holmes - Lewis/Foreman

I simply believe Ali to be the best HW of all time, and the best HW to meet multiple styles. So he's always going to come out as the best pick for me against most. I can redo it excluding Ali, but he's simply who'd I'd pick more times than not.

 

I think Lewis would beat up Foreman with superior stamina, technique and size.

 

It's possible, but I believe Lewis would be hesitant and wary of Foreman, which would be his undoing. When Lewis was supremely confident and imposed himself on people, he was almost impossible to beat. When he was a little tentative or not focused, he could run into trouble. Foreman was like a shark, if he sensed that, he was all over it. A fight with Lewis is almost a toss-up for me. I picked him because he had the power to end things, and while I think Ali is better overall, he's not stopping Lewis and could possibly be outboxed by Lewis. So could George, but George also could end things very quickly.

 

Ruddock and Briggs has some similarities to Foreman. Both were destroyed.

 

Lewis didn't view either the way he'd view Foreman. Apples to Orange.

 

He was an underdog for Ruddock and was at the start of his career.
