I am convinced that Monzon was the best of the middleweights and I agree with Mike Tyson who also thought that Monzon would have beaten SRR.
I think Grebs about as bad a matchup for Monzon as I can think of To say a name that might not come up a lot i'll add Apostoli, I think he would give Monzon a real real tough scrap and could definitely take it.
Jorge Castro. He would know how to get under his skin, rough him up, and land that miracle left hook.
The guy I like is Hagler a tough as nails fighter with great all around skills Another I like besides the already mentioned is Freddie Steele
Early Robinson would win a decision. Prime Hagler would take the distance, give him a fight from hell but lose a split decision. One possible out sider is Michael nunn. He had the jab and movement to give Monzon a run for his money. But any lapse in concentration would see Nunn being taken over by Carlos and brutally beaten.
I'd favour SRR and RJJ. As for Hagler/Monzon, I'd probably slightly favour Hagler 55/45 but it sure wouldn't be an easy night for any of them.
Difficult. Hagler, Robinson have a good shot but I wouldn't bet on either. RJJ is too green to hang in there, some success early on but he would get stopped late. Greb is an asterisk since no one saw him. Walker and Steele I dind't see enough to pick them. Giardello maybe? But probably not. Hopkins? Don't think he has more chance than Hagler or Robinson though. TBH, if it was just one fight at their best, there is no mw I saw that I would clearly favour to beat him. Over a trilogy or if he would fight all of them back to back, sure, but like that, don't think so.
