You would have to be kidding. Hearns iced guys all the way up to 190 pounds including an ATG fighter and chin. P4P you could debate it, Arguello was a massive hitter. We have to remember he was moving up yet again and was miles north from where he first won a title. Arguello landed plenty of right hands on Pryor, if it was Hearns he'd have been out. Hearns KO3.
I'd pick Hearns too, but I think Pryor would actually do quite well and if there is a finish, I dont think its that early
So you seriously think his right hand was harder than Hearns? He had 5 fights in his career where he weighed more than 140 which were 5 of his last 6 fights. He was scarcely weighing above 140 and nor were his opponents. Costello was certainly not a welterweight and Arguello's power was not proven at 147. He hit Pryor with any number of sweet right hands and Pryor was unmoved. This was at 140. Arguello had one punch power but he liked to apply a bit of undercoat before the finishing spray. Many were systematically broken down prior to the often blistering coupe de grace.
No Arguello wasn't icing quality fighters up to Welter with 1 shot even as a (135) lightweight and (130)jrlightweight fighters were able to handle his power to a certain extent it took him 14 rds to stop Mancini whom he had been hitting with bombs.....Hearns stopped world class fighters such as Duran, Roldan and others with his power up to cruiserweight Arguello is an ATG with top tier power for his size but you are comparing his power to being on par with Hearns and that is ridiculous
I think they both hit hard and Hearns was faster but didn't hit any harder then Arguello . Rooney went a number of rounds with Davey Moore who could punch. Arguello laid him out with one punch.
The right hand from arguello that snapped Pryor's head back like a PEZ dispenser would kill him if landed by hearns. I really rate Pryor but I don't think he has the headmovement to get into the later rounds where he could take hearns out. Pryor could box too which many people forget, but not well enough to beat hearns. Leonard who was much better suited for that strategy still really struggled with hearns when he tried to box him.
Hearns would land his punch and Pryor would be knocked out in about 5 rounds. It might be a little rough and wild for a few rounds, but Hearns would line him up for the right eventually.
