Wow, really? Didn't anticipate any requests, I suppose I could do it whenever there's a decent amount of fights on.:good In fact, looking at next week: Luis Alberto Lazarte Vs Nerys Espinoza Cesar Rene Cuenca Vs Sergio Omar Priotti Eloy Perez Vs Daniel Jimenez Vic Darchinyan Vs Evans Mbamba Alexander Alexeev Vs Ismail Abdoul Marco Antonio Rubio Vs Mohammed Akrong Jamie McDonnell Vs Stuart Hall Thomas Oosthuizen Vs Aaron Pryor Jr Jan Zaveck Vs Andre Berto Gary Russell Jr also featuring. Not saying I'm going to cover every single one in great detail, but it's a decent amount to work with I suppose, might give it a go.
Ponce is still slow as ****, with shocking footwork, but I guess he's fairly awkward, tough and likeable. If Gamboa is on it then he should blow him away. Good thread :good
Mendez/Salgado is a tough one. Argenis is clearly the more talented and technically skilled operator, but Salgado is tough as **** and had been improving since his loss to Uchiyama (Training with Nacho Beristain in Mexico). Mendez showed that he had some issues with pressure/volume from the opponent in the Martin Honorio fight, which was very close (though I felt Argenis did enough to win), and that maybe his style isn't very suited towards aggresive opponents who don't give him opportunities to counter. However, I'm not sure Salgado is the man to crack Mendez, because although he is fairly aggresive, I don't really think he's quick enough to get all over the mover Mendez like he needs too if he wants to get the better of the Dominican. Martin Honorio is a tough, quick pressure fighter, who can box too and likes to go to the body. Salgado is not as fast, doesn't swarm as much, and is more patient than his fellow Mexican, so I'm not sure he can overwhelm and outwork Mendez (to the degree Martin Honorio did at least) with his more methodical style. For this reason, I think Mendez will win by decision in a boxing match (as opposed to slugfest). Salgado's work with Nacho B suggests to me that he might try and box Mendez. If he does, he loses IMO, even is the fight is in Mehiho. Mendez UD for me (117-111 ish). Klitschko/Adamek I can see being fairly one-sided. Vitali is slipping, but he's still to quick, big, and awkward for Adamek to have any sustained success against. I can only envisiage Vitali dominating Adamek from the outside, and buzzing Adamek a couple of times late on to win a wide decision. Adamek just doesn't have the tools to give Vitali trouble, and I'll be very surprised if the Klit doesn't dominate. Klitschko UD. McCloskey/Prescott is another one I can see only going one way. That's with the Irishman. A bit of movement, decent counterpunching ability and a half decent boxing brain will give Prescott fits, Vazquez and Mitchell proved that. McCloskey is quicker and smarter than Prescott and can slip Breidis's shots fairly easily if he moves his head (which he has the ability to do). Prescott won't be able to sustain any work and will probably spend most of the fight missing with wild, innacurate shots. Should be an easy nights work for the Irish Dudey man. 'Closckey UD Frampton/Martinez will end badly for the youngin I reckon. He's just not good enough. It's scary how much Mcguigan is hyping Frampton, who's a fairly average prospect to to cut it above domestic level IMO, to be brutally honest. He's got no jab whatsover, and doesn't really seem to apply himself in the ring. He's clearly talented, but he needs more solid fundamentals and a fair bit more refining if he wants to succeed. Kiko Martinez is not world level, but he's a seasoned professional who's been around for years and knows what he's doing. He's solid, can box and can wear a fighter down over the course of a bout. He's nifty and will be too smart for The Jackal on the night, winning a clear UD IMO with the movement and the jab. Gamboa/Ponce will end within 6, and we all know who's going down, unfortunately.
That's what I get from watching Mendez too, he does need space to have any kind of sustained success, because he can be rather lazy on his feet at times and doesn't throw enough when being closed down. Salgado's too slow-paced though to take full advantage of it, he stays outside for a little bit too long and then just bundles forward really rather than actually placing his punches. If nothing else Mendez has the speed to exploit Salgado's weaknessess outside, and a pretty good straight right hand down the middle.
I made a HUGE postcovering these on a new thread, in the exact same format as this one, and my ****ing finger hit escape. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hate it when that happens. A few times i've made a post especially on the Encyclopedia thread and clicked to post it and it comes up ''unable to connect to internet''. Heartbreaking .
I was on the verge of tears, you can see it going, and you just do anything in desperation, blind hope, keep clicking back, back, refresh, refresh, REFRESH! But no.....:verysad

Keb Baas is ****. Actually ****. Not like Mamby, who has a journeyman's record but world level skills, Baas is just a journeyman with a journeymans skills, who happened to have Omar Nino's number. /Rant. Some really good fights on October 1st.
No **** Sherlock. He was never anywhere close to world level, and I can only assume that Nino was either shot/a mong on the night/both. He'll get splattered, I can't believe they made this after he's lost his title, at least when he was ''champion'' he had some kind of appeal.
