Sergei Kovalev-Eleider Alvarez rematch on ESPN

all fighters get old some earlier than the others. Call it a lucky punch, but there was a lot Kovalev did wrong in that fight. trying twice as hard to win close rounds. his timing was off, and by the 7th round he was landing 3 punch combos on alvarez that had nothing on them at all. and sure Kovalev does have good boxing skills. but take away his power he's not an amazing boxer. he's a good boxer that has the power in his shots to get stuff done, if he cant keep his power going late it's harder for him. he does have Knockouts past round 6, but it's always been when he had dropped his man and hurt him many times first and his rival had less on him at that point.

Chilemba, Ward, Alvarez. Kovalev didn't look as good going into the later rounds. a rematch 5 months later has pros and cons. fast turn around from a knockout could be a disaster. but the Pro is with time I think Kovalev declines more. and anyone that says Kovalev hasn't declined is in denial. he could still pull it off, but he's DECLINED. You can say Alvarez would never beat a prime Kovalev, and hell you might be right. but this isn't a prime Kovalev.

anyone disagree that Kovalev isn't quite as good as he used to be??

 

HBO is owned by a larger company and Boxing isn't their main interest. Premium tv is not the best option for boxing anymore. HBO will still be around in 2 years but if they get less and less big names then it could be hard.

When are people gonna acknowledge the fact that Kovalev is packing china in the chin. He is gonna get knocked out again and hopefully he moves on off into the sunset.

 

I said years ago kovalev was nothing special wilted and got knocked out by GGG in camp with headgear and big gloves
