Sergei Kovalev- why is everyone talking him up?

The differece is when Kovalev hits you stay hit. Clev does not have great power.

I totally agree that Clevs record is better.

I can't see Kovalev winning on points.

I think either Clev overwhelms him or Kovalev Ko's clev.

Is that around when you started watching boxing?

 

Is that supposed to be some sort of an insult?

 

To be honest its that sort of fight though which is a good thing, means its a good match.

Similar in a way to Froch vs Groves.

Although Froch is obviously way more proven than anyone else we have talked about.

 

Most British boxing fans of this era started to watch boxing when Ricky Hatton came along. You should know that IB.:nono

 

First of all Im not Biritsh Im Irish,which I already explained to another dip **** on this thread who claimed I was ****stani.

The first fight I ever watched live was Holyfield v Tyson 1 way back in 96 thats nearly 17 years ago.Ive been to tonnes of live shows in the UK,Ireland and Vegas,I also boxed as an amateur from the age of 13 right up until I went to university.I dont even know why Im bothering trying to defend myself to a bunch of misfits who obviously take this forum way to seriously.

I would love to know why you comment on the British forum all the time when you are American,its bad enough you guys think your the be all and end all of boxing,but the fact that you come on here and try and talk down to British fans who are probably some of the most knowledgable fight fans in the world is just as laughable.

Go back to the general and post with the Americans please :tired

 

I don't understand why Kovalev is talked up either.
A guy with his talent and power doesn't need to be talked up, he's just there at the top and doesn't go away for quite a while certainly in a reasonably talentless division.

 

Yep. Cleverly may indeed land flurry after flurry. But if Kovalev lands one then it's a fight changer. Kovalev can stalk as normal and Cleverly can try and push him back. I think Cleverly will have his senses scrambled early on, that's when all the training and heart will come into it. Movement and jab. Kovalev does move back in a straight line, that's one thing I've noticed.

Is Kovalev an aboslute proven commodity? No, of course not. But what's not to like thus far?? The K-Train is quick of hand and throws everything with murderous intent.

Campillo, I would kindly submit, is better than anyone on Cleverly's resume.

 

I've already stated why that is not the case, on paper maybe (except for Murat anyway, who Cleverly stopped), but in reality no, certainly not the Campillo that Kovalev stopped

 

IB used to be a moderator I believe, I've disagreed with him before a few times but he does know his stuff to be fair, I think Kovalev shows plenty of weaknesses and his head being straight up as he throws is just one of them waiting to be exploited. Cleverly is going to come through a few rocky moments and pretty much slap Kovalev around most of the time I believe, he may have good fundamentals and good power, but a few turns and pivots added to the workrate and he may start to get displaced. I think a fighter with a bit of imagination like Cleverly has, might be this guys undoing

Ah he was a moderator,that's probably the reason why he talks down to people on here,if he knows his stuff he should stay on point and not try and stir **** with his smug remarks,he's a yank who knows a bit about the British scene,we get it.Anyway back to Kovalev I'm with you on this one until he beats someone of note I'm not gonna big him up.
