I think the fight is off, but I'd pick Ruiz to decision Liak.

Ruiz for a few reasons, for one I think Sergei is still gun shy and two I think Ruiz has the style to give anyone trouble in the ring. I also think Don King will do what he can if it goes to the scorecards, Im perdicting Ruiz by late round TKO.

As long as the rules are properly enforced against that cheater, Lyakhovich will win, probably by TKO.

Thanks for the votes so far.

I voted for Liakhovich because he has excellent infighting skills which he used to beat Guinn as well as Brewster.

I certainly don't think Ruiz is a better skilled boxer than Guinn or a more powerful boxer than Brewster so I can't see Ruiz doing his usual jab & grab style to win.

I think he'll try to hug & hold as he usually does but he'll find that being inside against a fighter who thrives there will work against him. See Ruiz vs. Toney. No, Liakhovich is no James Toney when it comes to defense but Toney is no Sergei when it comes to power.

I recall we all thought that Golota would quite easily take Ruiz out, and once Ruiz started his apply overwhelming style, Golota became lost in the storm of arms and hugs. LOL

I think Ruiz would be too overwhelming and physical for Liakhovitch, who is not a real powerful guy, in my opinion. Liakhovitch is not strong enough to deal with the very physical Ruiz.

That lunge, and land the clubbing right on the way in, then clinch.........then step back, and repeat.........that is hard to deal with, and that clubbing right hand would land on Liakhovitch, over and over again.

It doesnt seem that Liakhovich wants to fight Ruiz, at this point in Liakhovich's career he can hardly afford another awful performace like his last one. A year ago, Liakhovich was a champion who had a lot of people thinking (including me) that he had the best shot to beat Wladimir Klitchko. Now he is an ex-champion who hasn't fought in nearly a year, and is apparently scared to fight John Ruiz.:-(

I see your point but Sergei does use some good defensive head movement early in fights and he has a better jab as well as that old school lead right to the body.

It's a good matchup that I'd like to see and I don't blame Sergei for wanting to fight Valuev for the eliminator either as long as that's true.

IMO Ruiz wins by UD. I still think the White Wolf is gun shy after the briggs fight. Seems like the fight will be in court...not the ring....TYPICAL!!!!

I don't think Sergei is scared on John Ruiz do you?

He may be afraid to risk his high ranking to fight a guy ranked below him for no gain in the rankings...................especially when he may have a deal to fight an eliminator against Valuev.

Let's face it, no one looks good fighting Ruiz except maybe Tua :yep and few would give him credit for beating that has-been/almost-was anyway. I think that's the business side of it.

I mean, how can a guy who fought an intimidating looking Briggs be AFRAID of Ruiz?

This is also a fight that can end up going to the cards and isn't Ruiz with King now?
