Woulda been nice but in reality Agnew and Fonfara were close to the best who aren't either on SHO or blasted out by one of the Dynamic Duo in 2013. Eleidar woulda been nice but he's still being built and I'm honestly doubtful we see Pascal in the ring with either until after they meet. Braemar would also have been good, but he basically only fights in Germany and has something of a history of not being available when other titlists come knocking. Shumenov is very obviously being lined up for a unification with BHop.
Agnew is a disrespectful punk. Kovalev cannot be held responsible for what happens to him. I see several big punches, multiple KD's and a couple pelvic thrust gestures in his future.
Do you have evidence that Kovalev is an Octaroon or are you taking your vocabulary out for a test drive? Sergey does have an odd glow to him so who knows....:huh
Kovalevs draw was an out and out robbery IMO - shoulda been a KO2, but Grover Young claimed Kovalev hit him on the back of the head and the ref fell for it (although the actual punch isn't visible on the available footage Grover was actually advancing on Kovalev at the time, making an illegal punch unlikely and when Grover goes down he can be seen first reaching up to the side of his head - then when the ref comes for a closer look he reaches up to the back of his head, while Kovalev essentially looks on in disgust). Tube it. Under the unified rules it woulda been a NC anyway, but under the California SAC rules it was ruled a draw. Apparently Kovalev saw Grover (who's a Cruiserweight incidentally) chatting and joking later in the hotel lobby and confronted him over why he wasn't in hospital after he'd been stretchered out of the ring - Grover became angry and demanded a rematch to which Kovalev replied they could go right there and then.... Grover refused however. By all accounts Grover was badly outta shape and already gassing by 2 (I believe he was a late replacement anyway - Kovalev was expecting to fight a LHW), according to Kovalev Young was getting hurt and looking for a way out. TBH If you're looking for insight into Kovalevs stamina there ain't much to go off, the Simakov fight was fought at a more measured pace than most of his bouts since but he looked fine through 7, and of the two fights that went the distance only 1 (against Karen Avetisyan) a dull six rounder has footage available. Apparently he did struggle towards the end after being put down in Boone I however. There does remain a legitimate questionmark over Kovalevs stamina, but I don't expect Agnew to be the one to provide an answer.
Kovalev will not have a stamina problem because he trains like a madman.........however, if he can get a fighter out early he does so..............
Hits him with an OHR and 2 lefts on the way down whilst running at him (and over his falling body)... That KO has more in common with a drive by shooting than a boxing match. Flat out brutality.
I was curious if someone would take the time and expain the circumstances behind Kovalev's "draw" to that ******. Not like it will matter to him. Whenever he shows up on threads about fighters from over there he just spews his bigotry.
Its seems all these cossaks settle on bum fights when they get to the top. Wladimir Klitschko being the trend setter. Who the hell is this Agnew guy and why is Kovalev defending his title against him? When did Floyd , Manny, Bradley, Ward, ever defend against a guy you ever heard of?
