For many boxing fans, Sergey Kovalev is the real deal and has been for some time. He is the king without a crown of the LHW division, and his time is coming.

His record is superb. His KO ratio is unheard of. He will soon win a fight which many will try to discredit, but looking at the mood of RIGHT NOW, it will be a good win.

There is so much upside to a guy like Kovalev. His entertainment factor is huge. Feed casuals a steady diet of Kovalev on free TV and his fanbase will explode.

On top of all this, Kovalev sincerely wants to prove himself as the best. This is THE BIGGEST thing missing in the fighters of right now. Everyone, from promoter, to network, to the fighters themselves are content to feast on bums to milk the money. Kovalev is different. The only other fighter with this refreshing attitude is Loma.

    Kovalev's stardom is coming soon.

Fighters from overthere will always find it next to impossible clearing the mental hurdles imposed upon them by our typical boxing fan and media scribe. In Murica only one type of phenotype need apply for superstardom in this sport. Guys like JCC Sr in the past seemed to contest that trend with a modern day example of Pacquiao being another anomaly.

Things are starting to change in favor of Russian/earstwhile Soviet fighters overhere but the ground is still not nearly nor will it ever really be fertile enough for any of them no matter how dominant and exciting to ever garner such a label as superstar.

In before ESB's cadre of armchair chronological geneologists complain about their age being the limiting factor. If I have learned anything it has been that ESB has an abundance of

    Chronologic geneologists
    Boxing trainers
    Accounts

Kovalev will stop Hopkins. Hopkins will fall down on the canvas claiming low blows while landing low blows himself, Hopkins will use his head, his headbutts are famous, Hopkins will hold and complain all night, etc. Dawson beat Hopkins' arse, Calzaghe, Taylor, Jones, etc., but Kovalev punches much harder than Hopkins, Kovalev is the hardest puncher Hopkins ever fought. Tito was a welterweight and Pavlik was slow, not a lightheavyweight either, nothing like Kovalev............................

Why should anybody listen to your autistic ass after you claimed for months that Hopkins would NEVER take this fight and then backtracked claiming that he was somehow FORCED into it when he could have taken on his mandatory instead? Just shut the **** up, you muppet.

Stevenson refused to fight Kovalev for a reason, instead he went to Showtime to fight Hopkins, but wanted way too much money, so Hopkins went to HBO and decided to fight Kovalev who will make less than a 3rd of what Hopkins will make. HBO was going to sue Stevenson for breaking an agreement to fight Kovalev, plus Hopkins said himself that if there was a lawsuit he would be a part of that lawsuit as well because of his position as a promoter, long story, but biased minded people will not allow their mind to hear such..................I predicted that Hopkins would stop Tito years ago on ESB, very few believed me, but Tito was a welterweight...................

They aren't anomalies, they're examples of the US public taking to an exciting foreign fighter.

Whether they take to Kovalev depends very much upon exposure because anyone who watches him enjoys the spectacle.

I think he loses soon though, he's too wild.

He needs to fight US opposition to really make it big.

Hopkins is a good start, but he could have done with Dawson, Cloud, Ward and Rodriguez stepping up to fight him.

Unfortunately they're either too scared or Haymon has them tied up.
