Sergey Kovalev is hated even in Russia

Kovalev just apologized on twitter, citing an american history lesson from his promoters. Larry Holmes is deliberating on whether to accept it or come out of retirement.

 

You are a liar. When exactly did I cry that I was abused in Russia? You just lost any credibility that you might have had.

You sure like making assumptions that suit your agenda, don't you? You are completely clueless, so let me educate you. First of all, 'Russian' is not a race. Second, there is a huge difference between facts and "incessant racist ramblings". Furthermore, I don't hate Russians, just like I don't hate c0ckroaches. Finally, someone who has not lived for at least two decades in Russia should never try to act as an expert on the russkies.

In the end, the only thing you "exposed" is your ignorance.

The crux of this thread:

Stevenso commits horrible atrocities against humanity but must be welcomed with open arms and louded for his perserverance.

Kovalev expresses a growing dislke for a sub section of an ethnic group that he has had numerous negative experiences from and THEY want him out of the sport even hurt/injured along with his family and all that support him.

I am very good at reading between the lines. Reading your posts and ****ysing them, I caught a few glimpses of your bullied past.

I don't blame you. Jews are pretty much universally hated (be it jealousy of their financial success or what not). You're not ethnic russian, and you were severely mistreated. Unable to fight back you fled (once again, I don't blame you).

I understand that you're the victim here. In helpless agony, you join a boxing forum, make a name like russian_glass in hopes it will ease off the pain.

The fact of the matter is, whether you're black/white/asian/whatever, if I hear you speak russian I treat you as my people. This approach is not universal, and I understand that I do not speak for all soviets, but you would have been welcome in my circle, and in the circle of people like me.

But you should not call all russians "cocoroaches". You might accidentally forget you're not an anonymous poster online one day and say it out loud, and get your head bashed in. Most likely by a person that normally would harbour you no ill will whatsoever, until you open your mouth.

If you're going to make such claims, you should support them with something. The problem is, you have nothing to support them with. If most Russians were intolerant of other races and cultures, because of the large diversity of the population within Russia, there would be large scale racial conflict with many people killed, atrocities, etc. But there isn't, not even close. Again, if Russians were so intolerant, there wouldn't be millions of visibly non-Russian immigrants in the country from the Caucasus, Central Asia, and further afield - but there are. They are there and they aren't in any hurry to leave, which suggests, at the very least, that they aren't in any physical danger and that their living conditions can't be that bad.

By and large, Russians are no more intolerant than most Europeans, especially eastern Europeans. The main difference between Russians and western Europeans and Americans is that in Russia there is less of this enforced public racial sensitivity, where you can't compare any black person to a ****** because that's what racists 200 years ago did to justify slavery, etc.

I had a similar experience when I was in New Orleans for the Final Four in 1993. A black guy comes walking buy me in The French Quarter and puts his hand to my chest, acting like it is a gun, and "pulls the trigger." Same kind of death stares in Memphis. Depending on where you are in the country there are some real bad actors out there, with bad intentions. And some of these guys have the audacity to say what a bad guy Kovalev is because he expresses what he has experienced.

This is boxing. The hurt business. Mayweather, Hopkins, Camacho, Alan Minter. Ali have all said very controversial things about race. Who really cares? Boxers have not really been the role model types throughout history.
