    No, not mixed up.

Yeah that second Usyk fight could have easily went to Beterbiev. Artur fought great in that one considering his sluggish win in the first round against Hunter of the U.S., where he fell behind early and won on countback after Hunter basically gassed out in the third.

Kovalev looks wide open to that southpaw straight left, really bad news against Adonis especially when you've been knocked down by guys like Blake Caparello...

Why does it seem the bigger punchers are so vulnerable themselves.

yeh looks like a punch that could cause him serious problems. mind you kovalev has shown he can adapt, and i think he would vs stevenson. keep him behind his jab and not over reaching.

Beterbiev only beat Kovalev by a solitary point in the 2007 Russian Nationals.

    2007-05-07 81kg Artur Beterbiyev Sergey Kovalev 25:24

    http://amateur-boxing.strefa.pl/Nationalchamps/Russia2007.html

Kovalev feels he deserved the decision

'TMF: Your amateur course was more impressive: 215 fights, 193 wins gold medals at the Russian military and Amateur Championship in 2005, the national championship bronze in 2007 and silver in 2008, and won two gold medals and a silver in the military world championships from 2005 to 2007. What can you tell us about your amateur experience and the difference with military boxing program?

SK: I am very proud to have won the gold medal at the 2005 national tournament in my country. The other moment would be my last gold medal at the World Championships in Hyderabad, India in 2007.

I was in the army to box in a program focusing on boxing. So what to hone my skills. It gave me more discipline and more fierce competition to continue my career. I am a sports soldier!

TMF: The transition from European-style American boxing -it difficult for you?

SK: To be honest I have not changed anything at this level, apart from moving the upper body and head a little more.

TMF: During the Russian national championship in 2007, you have been defeated by decision in the hands of Artur Beterbiev, a fellow now based in Montreal. What can you tell us about Beterbiev and this fight?

SK: We competed in the semi-final and I have not lost this fight in my opinion. Regarding Beterbiev, it has a large strike force and a strong chin. He has great talent, great experience for amateurs and it will go away

Even Beterbiev seems to be of the opinion that it wasn't one of his best showings.

JEJ: Quebec boxing fans would like to know the details of the duel against your compatriot and current Mid-Heavyweight champion of the WBO, Sergey Kovalev. How was this battle?

AB: We were a member of the Russian national team. At that time, I was the amateur champion of Europe 2006. I faced Sergey in 2007. I had to measure up to Evgeny Makarenko, the amateur world champion in 2001 and 2003, but to make me, I had to beat Kovalev in the semifinals. It was not my best performance, I am nevertheless emerged victorious by decision.

Kovalev is strong and has great punching power and he did not become world champion by accident.
