Never said I agreed with that card. It was a draw type fight, or 115-113.

Krusher isn’t incapable of making the proper mental adjustments he just didn’t anticipate the high level of mental fortitude Ward possessed. I’ve said it plenty of times Krusher has the deadlier tools but Ward is a superior cerebral fighter. Classic fire and water battle....

Agree with this boxing is a sport,a contest, all this PC nonsense should be forgotten when they step into the ring. Ward made it a factor before the fight.

Ward vowed to punish him and he did with illegal blows and Weeks allowed it.

Got to love the still. Ward puts all his might into throwing the hardest punch of his career onto a defenceless guy who's just been stunned by a blow the sack, and Sergey's face is like "hmm, interesting"

I do not get any of this. What self inflicted issues? He was earning million+ paydays had a great supportive wife at least presumably and just had his first Son. He must be speaking in code and shouldering the blame for how the boxing establishment treated him.

Did he screw himself by judging for Ward in the first fight or punching himself in the nuts in the second while stopping it himself when doubled over from a series of low blows?

Claims all his problems started with Chilemba so who knows what the truth really is/was? Granted he has had some raw deals getting done dirty from his amateur days and having problems getting a promoter and established as a pro but there comes a point opportunity knocks and you just have focus and perform despite your problems. Too bad for him his chance for boxing immortality has sailed with the Ward debacles.

There are millions of people out there who's lives would be damn near perfect if they had Kovalev's problems. I am rapidly becoming less of a fan by the day.

Not sure if you or anyone would agree but Wards response there was excellent, articulate and straight. He basically realized this isn’t a focus group or alcoholics anonymous meeting its a fight and sure he’s been inappropriate regardless of an individuals recognition but it’s a fight and they aren’t obligated to like one another and they aren’t obligated to tolerate and respect eacothers culture....do I agree and condone it ....no way but it’s the reality we live with today and it won’t change anytime soon.

If kovalev can get back to his best he will have another reign as the best light heavy in the world I wouldn't have been surprised if he retired after the shocking ward fights and with this fight been on HBO ward should not be doing the commentary

Pascal is a guy whose attitude I've generally admired ever since he manfully accepted his defeat to Carl Froch with no excuses, but I agree with you here. Only he can tell us how much of it came from a genuine feeling of aggrievement, but he certainly used Kovalev's prior controversies as sizzle to promote his bouts with the man. He instigated a lot of the hostility between them, presumably knowing that Sergey doesn't suffer any perceived disrespect gladly.

Also, Kovalev sticking it up the Cleverly faithful in Cardiff was a classic FU moment.

Fine post. Those writing Sergey off since TKO8 may be overlooking Ward's intangibles (aside from the depth of his craft). It's not any man who could've gotten that job done.

He had to do what makes him happy and comfortable. I can dig it, but a leopard can't change his spots. He has never fought on the inside and when he has tried, he's failed miserably. Now guys will try to walk through him as Ward did, and we will see what kind of fighter he becomes late in his career.
