So, basically you're saying that Ward attempted to punch his knees, but an unlucky event made Kovalev bend a little, get lower, leading to Ward hitting your lollipop....

No, he just couldn't see where he was throwing, the last shot was deflected from Sergey's own arm that was protecting his body, and Ward's punch was deflected into his crotch (Not the balls).

Of course, that was not the punch that led to the stoppage. It was the fact that Sergey was getting beaten up from pillar to post in the 8th round, throwing nothing back. Ward was on route to stop him.

This. Kovalev is a complete ingrate. Jackson did wonders for him. Jackson improved Kovalev's jab and Kovalev was also a lot more accurate with his punches under Jackson. However, Kovalev doesn't take instructions, since most of the time his accuracy and power gets the job done. However, in both fights against Ward he failed to make any adjustments during the fights and became too predictable. Jackson told Kovalev what to do, but Kovalev completely ignored him. Ward was wide open for the left hook in both fights and Jackson told Kovalev to use the left hook, but Kovalev didn't bother.

I can't see very many top trainers wanting to deal with Kovalev, since even an elite fighter is more trouble than their worth if their uncoachable

I also believe that ward is the better fighter of the two, but Kov reminds me so much of Kevin Durant. If you can't beat them, you join them.

There is something even more obvious than what kovalev said: If you dont want to learn, you are not going to learn, no matter the trainer.

So he better looks for any trainer he REALLY wants to learn from. Because the fact that he is more or less old is not helping him to learn, so he will have to put an extra effort in it because of his age.

Imho he can say whatever, what I think is that deep inside he thinks that he knows it all and that he needs noone's help, so he wont learn ****. A very big handicap, not only in a fighter, but in every human being willing to do something meaninful.

Kov knows low blow prices not he was losing that fight. He was done and it was just a matter of time. This quotes are his acceptance of defeat.
