He should think about joining up with Roach or getting back together with Sanchez.

The problem with him is he's supposedly very stubborn during training camps and doesn't really listen to head trainers. He needs to fix that personal issue before seeking out a new trainer because if he continues on that stubborn path, it won't matter if Ray Arcel or ANgelo Dundee is training him.

Holy **** people are clueless! LOL Bunch of WWE fan boys masquerading as fight fans that can interpret the simplest of concepts.

Ward is NOT a better fighter and Kovalev is not going to work with Hunter. It is not enough that you got your phony, corrupt victory now you pathetic, little cucks have to rewrite history and make up likes about the present and future.

Kovalev should run screaming from all Murican trainers.

If there was nothing he does better then why was there a need for a rematch in order to get a conclusive result?
I agree Ward proved hes better overall but Kovalev has a much better jab, fights better at range and also definitely has an edge in physical strength and power.

Ward is the much better inside fighter, more composed under pressure and has better ring generalship but he is definitely not head and shoulders above him and the first fight could have easily been scored in Kovalevs favor

I think someone like Roger Bloodworth would be perfect for Kovalev. When Bloodworth worked with Fernando Vargas and Andrew Golota at the peak of their powers, they did an outstanding job consistently working behind the jab. That's something Kovalev seems to forget too often, and not just in the 2 Ward bouts.

    Let's give the man credit.
You have to be objective as well. Yes, Ward won the 2nd fight convincingly, but lost the first fight on the cards.
Kovalev hasn't been savvy enough when it comes to upper echelon fighters. He had no plan in the 2nd fight-
and was mismanaged as well. Now, it may be too late for Kov. because he wasted another year. I see him maybe getting KO'd by Stevenson- I don't see the fire - he took a lot of shots from Ward and did not look like himself. Stevenson's left hook takes him to the hospital. I hope I'm wrong.

He should have figured it out before hand.

He did worse in the rematch and if he was the better fighter, he'd have done better. It's impossible. Truth of the matter is that he will have to forget about Ward and forge another path, away from him.

Didn't he once have Abel Sanchez as a trainer, not keen on all Sanchez says but he's done a great job with Golovkin, changing his style etc, incredible how someone so talented can be so at sea when someone gets inside his range and unlike GGG he doesn't seem able to walk em down and cut the ring off or maybe there's a bit more to it actually in that unlike GGG who clearly isn't afraid of taking one or two to get his own off SK despite him saying Ward has power didn't seem to keen on taking shots like GGG would.
That said I'd have to favour Ward against GGG as well.

You didn't just say he is a better fighter though, you said "There's nothing Kovalev can do to be better than Ward".

If thats the case why was he forced to make adjustments in both fights and barely won the first one, if Kovalev literally doesn't so a single thing better than Ward in the ring as you said?

I'm talking in the overall sense. Ward is better and there's nothing Kovalev can do about it. He's already getting up there in age, he's not going to be willing or able to make adjustments in the ring or change is training habits. He needs to let it go.

Props to Kovalev. That is one stubborn SOB. Russian as hell. Assessing the situation as a fan (which, granted, is from quite a distance), Hunter would find a way to connect with Sergey and would actually be an excellent coach for him. When I saw the video of Hunter offering to train The Krusher, I took it pretty much at face value believing that there is alot of respect mixed with compassion for an extremely worthy competitor there, which is what would be required to communicate effectively, imo. I hope it happens.
