Buddy is actually really good. He will definitely keep Kovalev sharp. But the thing with Buddy is... he always looses! Dude always gets the underdog, and no matter how good the trainer, the underdog tends to loose. Macklin, Tarver and Gatti all looked really good when with him. He also trained a ton of other high level guys.
But yeah that's not a bad choice, Buddy seems like a great guy, although he hasn't been producing exemplary results as of late. So its not necessarily a thrilling choice either. I'd have gone with a Salas, Shields or this may seem like odd choices, I still think it would work though, Shane McGuigan or Dominic Ingle.
I thought he didn't like American trainers anyway, especially of color right?! Maybe he should try the great Tim Lane. He's known for being a solid, "right man", for the job. He'll get Kovalev out of the cage.
I remember reading that Buddy had some health problems over the last few years it may have impacted his training of fighters. Hopefully he is healthy and can help Kovalev regain his title. I don't think the trainers Kov had for his last fight were experienced enough with professional boxing.
Kov looking old man, i'd of liked to see a corner change 3/4 years ago tbf, work on areas he was lacking in to go with them long range sniper skills...Buddy don't come across like a little hoe, I hope it works and they can squeeze some performances out of this once great fighter

You helped ruin his career, actually. And if GGG sticks with Sanchez after Abel's post loss celebrations, even now saying Canelo has redeemed himself for cheating with PEDs against them, he's a total knob-head too. Never in my life have I seen a coach so enthralled with an opponent's win over his own fighter. Even snake Jackson wasn't that enthralled with bruvva Ward's win, he just had sadistic satisfaction.
