I saw on br that he beat Sookie Stackhouse' brother Micky that year. Maybe that sent some shockwaves trough the southern states at the time.
Pretty sure that he means that this is the same kind of fight as Froch/Kessler so the same prediction applies.
You'd have to pretty much be an oracle to predict that Kovalev who barely anybody has heard of at that point would go on to become a LHW champion and somehow meet up with Ward 7 years later and get beat lol.
ward hasn't fought anyone as well rounded as Kovalev and I think the added weight will slow him down just enough for kovalev to catch him

Here is my prefight summary and prediction for tonight's Kovalev/Ward fight: http://tinyurl.com/gqc8ly7
Good read. I myself see some things slightly different but I'm pretty much on the same page as you are with this.
My alarm has always woken me up but I'm scared that it won't wake me up for the fight. I'm gonna sleep now and wake up at 2:30am aka 3 hours 30 mins - I want to see Gvozdyk-Chilemba (I hope it doesn't start at 2am).
The fight went pretty much how i predicted it would a few days ago. If i'm honest though i had Kovalev by a couple of points. The result wasn't a robbery, but Ward never deserved the verdict. I like and admire all facets of the game, but Ward and Hopkins interpretation of " boxing " is light years away from what most fight fans want to see. At the end of the day, Ward is much like Floyd and Bhop, most people only tune in and/or pay per view in the hope of seeing them beaten up. I'd like to think/hope that Ward will retire, and save us all from having to endure anymore of this.
