Kovalev was masterful last night in his 12 round deconstruction of Bernard Hopkins, it was controlled agression at its finest and he showed patience and great footwork too so that he didn't stay in the pocket too long for Hopkins to counter him.

I have no doubt Kovalev would destroy Adonis Stevenson inside 4 rounds. Having said that i also saw certain faults from Kovalev last night that leads me to believe there is a Light Heavyweight i think beats him and that is Artur Beterbiev.

Kovalev's recent run of wins is very good: Gabriel Campillo, Nathan Cleverley, Ismayl Sillah, Cedric Agnew, Blake Camparello and Bernard Hopkins but there's something that all these opponents have in common and it's that they're all relatively Light punchers who don't have the firepower or one punch knockout in their arsenal to keep Kovalev off them, Beterbiev most certainly does.

It would be an Fantastic fight between Kovalev and Beterbiev, one i would look forward to even more then Kovalev vs Stevenson.

My prediction: Beterbiev beats Kovalev by 8th rd KO.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this Match-up?

Sick fight. Beterbiev is another one of those scary punchers with boxing skill.

Beterbiev needs a few more fights to get a little more recognition and reputation. But I do believe one day he will be a contender to the title whether it's against kovalev or other fighters.

Hard to say, beterbiev looks the real deal, but hasn't fought anyone near kovalev power wise either,he also has great boxing skills,I think I'd edge toward kovalev on points at this stage but wouldn't surprised if it went the other way

I think it has to be Beterbiev, I've seen a couple of his fights (Saunders, Cloud) he's a bit slower than Kovalev, but he does seem to posses good boxing intelligence and shot placement, I think what would be the difference is the chin, Kovalev looks really quite chinny and Beterbiev similarly to him is a devastating puncher, what gives him the edge is that he could probably take a few of Kovalev's punches but I doubt Kovalev could do the same.

This particular fight is just not a very good match up for Kovalev from what I've seen, I may be wrong though.

I think beterbiev chin is better, but kovalev is smoother and if he can outbox artur imo, he showed it last night, and beterbiev doesnt wanna walk into counters of kovalev

They should look at making this match-up for Summer 2015. Beterbiev is nearly 30 and had a long amateur career so he doesn't really need too many Pro fights to be ready for Kovalev.

Also the fact is Kovalev no longer has any one to fight as we know Stevenson, Ward and Fonfara won't go near him.

HBO need to get Beterbiev on the next Kovalev undercard and start building a fight between them for next year.

I think history repeats itself and Beterbiev beats him for a 3rd time

right now I say kovalev wins.in the future as artur gets more experience and gets better with each passing fight he could beat kovalev.one thing is certain and that's betertbieve's freakish power he may have more power than kovalev.

At the moment Kovalev destroys him. Beterbiev is too raw at this stage to have anything othert than a puncher's chance. Give it two years or so and it might be a closer fight. A lot of people here are either underrating Kovalev completely or are hyping Beterbiev to ****

Right now Kovalev by KO. Yeah I know the amateurs but Kovalev has much more pro experience and skillwise Beterbiev is still raw, especially in half distance where he likes to fight, Kovalev would be able to expose this flaw. This might be different 2-3 years down the stretch but right now Beterbiev isn't ready for this level.

Of course he always have his puncher's chance, physically he is probably the closest thing you'll see today resembling a caveman, if you haven't already done that you should search for pictures of him (especially his caveman hands), the guy is simply a rugged tank.

Beterbiev will take over once Kovalev and Stevenson retire.

Hopkins will probably retire soon, so after that, there's no one who will be able to challenge Beterbiev.

At this moment in time Kovalev. Beterbiev needs a few more fights against top 10 opposition prior to fighting Kovalev

Man oh man... I just don't know. Can't and won't make a judgement on this one right now. Artur has an inside game and the kinda power that makes Kovalev look human... but, as I've said before (before last night that is - when it became apparent to all that Kovalev has real talent) Kovalevs mobility and control of range is actually really, really good.

Beterbiev has mind- numbing power which has been demonstrated both pro and am, but we've yet to see him in against a guy with serious talent and good movement in the pros.

Cloud, bless his little socks, probably would have lasted a little longer if he'd had any concept what kind of animal was in the ring with him and refused to engage.

Kovalev does know, and has the mobility to keep his range.

He may not punch as hard as Artur (and I find it remarkable to be saying that about one of the biggest hitters in the sport) but he punches plenty hard enough... 'unless Artur's made of Hopkinesque alloys and uses some kinda remote control to animate his body from outside the ring he can still be hurt and KOd.

This **** makes me nervous just talking about it, but hopefully it's a fight we'll one day see... damn, though, it almost seems like too much power to fit in one boxing ring.

Why he is too raw?already beat Kovalev in amateurs, and as far i know Beterbiev is just as experienced boxer as Kovalev.only difference is Kovalev has more pro fights.you think Beterbiev was at his home drinking beer the whole time?

Beterbiev definelty has the skills, chin and power to beat everyone in LHW.why in earth he needs to more practice beating opponents in couple of rounds?it doesn't make him any better.the work has been done in the gym over the years.

Kovalev is great, but you sir are underrating Beterbiev.how many 2-3 round KO'S he needs,so you don't think he is raw?you think Beterbiev beating Cloud under 6minutes made him better boxer?and the work done in the gym has nothing do about it.

50/50 right now. Beterbiev is a monster with an iron chin. He only needs a few more fights, and Kovalev knows it.
