even though Kovalev is shot, it's still a huge stepup for the Turkic guy
Melikuziev fights in short range, fighting with his gloves very close to his body while Kovalev fights tall and long and still has a great deal of power, and so it will be super impressive imo if Melikuziev wins

I have a feeling it's going to be just like when Alexis Rocha tried to feast on the remains of Brad Solomon after Vergil Ortiz Jr. wrecked him, thinking it would be easy work, only to end up going life and death with him. The only the difference is, in that match Solomon didn't school Ortiz for 7-8 rounds before he got knocked out. So Kovalev should do a number on him similar to what he did to Yarde, with a few possible shaky moments just like he had with the Yarde.

Off Kovalev's last effort ,, could be 50/50 if he's as shot as I think he is.

Strange match making. Could be a very bad career ending for Kovalev, going away with 2 back to back KO losses to middleweights.

I think this might very well end Kova's toprated career. I think he's past it enough to lose this fight.

Weird opponent, only had 6 fights.

you’d think Kovalev would cash out against someone with a higher profile and more money to be made?

I'm very high on Melikuziev but this is some step up, plus he was originally was supposed to be fighting at 168.

    Could be very interesting.
    Depends entirely on Kovalev.

If this is his cash out, then dont expect much.

If this is him wanting one last run, then it could be a barn burner.

Against Canelo he had a quick turnaround and the weight stipulations may have hurt.

ALSO, and people forget, he was actually boxing quite well for large parts of the Canelo fight.

This fight is at 178 so there should be no issues for Kovalev making weight.

    ....very interesting.

I won't be even slightly surprised if Melikuziev knocks Kovalev out in the first round

He is taking a step up very early and if Krusher is still crushed this will produce some fireworks before the KO
On the other hand if Krusher is off the sauce and focused this could be a house burning with both going all out until Krusher gets the stoppage
