I'm probably going against the grain, but Hopkins is eventually going to lose at the top tier level and Kovalev is probably the best bet at this point.

He is the naturally stronger fighter and has the ability to bully BHOP. Combine that with BHOP being old, I choose Kovalev.

Hopkins has declined significantly in the last couple of years, this isn't the same fighter that beat Tarver or even the fighter that beat Pascal.

I think Bhop takes a couple of rounds to get going and Kovalev starts fast so the early rounds go to Kovalev. Bhop then gets into his groove and outboxes Kovalev with his movement in the middle rounds. But Kovalev comes on strong late as Hopkins struggles with the pressure and pace Kovalev sets and goes into survival mode. Kovalev wins a close decision.

I don't think this will be an easy win for Kovalev as Hopkins movement will definitely give him trouble but Hopkins age finally catches up with him. I hope I'm wrong though and Hopkins puts on another clinic which is not impossible he's turned back the clock so many times and proved me wrong so many times.

    Prediction:

Hopkins with his designer PEDS survives the 12 rounds with the help of his friend Steve Smoger. Then the judges rob Kovalev.

    or:

Hopkins puts on an act and Smoger DQs Kovalev.

Boxing doesn't want Bernard to win.

Seems unlikely when fights have been close (Taylor, Calzaghe, Pascal 1) he's lost or been given a draw. Seems unlikely he'll rob anyone given his track record in close fights.

A good old boxer isn't good enough too beat a good young boxer and a good small boxer isn't good enough to beat a good big boxer is the philosophy of boxing.:hat

Frankie Gavin just got owned by the 39 year old Leonard Bundu, Mayweather schooled Canelo Alvarez and many of Hopkin's recent fights also say your so called philosophy is flawed.

Not a bad prediction. But Roidnard doesnt use designer PEDS.

He simply won't fight without a NonDisclosure Agreement in place which all him TRT.
It's been mentioned by several fighters that they had signed NDAs but of course couldnt elaborate as to why.

Pascal was on and on about roidnards using, and then when he signed the contract, he was suddenly silent.:D

I don't think the Peds are gonna help Roidnard out though. But it wouldnt be out of the question that Roidnard follwed the Caperello blueprint in punching Sergey low a couple times, then when he rests, step on his foot and throw a lead R hand dropping the off balance fighter, and Smoger jumping in and frenching Sergey.

    That is usually true.

However, the second part has no case here.

Hopkins is taller than Kovalev and has the reach advantage as well. Also, considering their builds, they are about the same size.

I understand that Hopkins fought at MW for the most part of his career, but he also started his career as a light heavyweight and was actually fighting the smaller guys during his MW reign.

Gamboa vs Crawford is a good example of the smaller boxer losing a fight mostly because of the size disadvantage. Hopkins on the other hand will perhaps even have a small advantage size wise.

Kovalev tko from a ref stoppage. At some point, Bhop has to lose and I think this is the time. Kovalev isn't a plodder like Pavlik, Cloud or Shum. He is more calculating and selective with his punches and that will make all the difference in the world against Hopkins.

If Hopkins fights he gets stopped, he may survive if he holds and runs

First, it’s hard to believe a guy who fought for a middleweight title belt back in Madonna’s prime slutty years is now trying to unify the LHW belts. It’s really admirable the guy is doing all this before getting his AARP card.

For Bernard to win, he needs to make Kovalev hesitate by using his right hand as a deterrent. When Hopkins commits to the right hand, he still carries respectable pop. But I’ve thought for the past year, just like Chad Dawson, Kovalev is all wrong for Bernard. Krusher to stop the great Hopkins.

Kovalev by early stoppage, the rounds that Bernard has been taking to warm up lately will go to Kovalev, which means he'll do his damage early and get the stoppage. Hopkins is great but he has bitten off more than he can chew.
