I dont hate Wlad, hes just boring. And i certainly dont love Hopkins, hes boring to. I do respect the fact hes nearly 50 years old though and willing to gake on such a dangerous fight. A fight you said he'd never take. Im happy you maxe that ONE thread questioning whether Wlad will be allowed to hold or not. Of course that was in the wake of the Povetkin fight so what choice did you really have? Now let me see you make that thread when he fights an American fighter. :yep

Chances are the referee is going to let B-Hop hold though. I'll be extremely surprised if he doesn't allow him to get away with all his dirty cheating ****, but obviously if he does allow him to it's going to greatly work in his favour.

It goes about 8 rounds then Bernard retires with some kind of shoulder injury.

I don't think Hopkins stopped but will fail to win the majority of the rounds. But hey he's proven me wrong before. I'll stand and applaud if he does it again.

I've been thinking more about this fight than any other this year.

I just hope the referee will be fair to both boxers and enforce the rules, and not favor Hopkins in any way.

Im picking Hopkins, the only thing which is making me have second thoughts is his age. Other than that i clearly pick Hopkins.

Going by the 24/7, and the excerpts from Hopkins sparring, i believe he is going to make it an inside fight.

I dont think Sergei is very good on the inside, he is more of a mid range bomber.

Hopkins is going to get right in Kovalevs face and stay there all night, Kovalev needs space to throw his punches, space which Hopkins wont give him.

Expect a boring, messy affair with lots of hugging/clinching and headbutting from Hopkins. Hopkins will be turning him, smother Kovalev, hitting, clinching, getting out of the dangerzone and then keep repeating until Kovalev mentally gives up.

I really would like to see Hopkins turn the page once again on his legend but my common sense won't let me give him the nod on a win. I think he's underestimating Kovelev's power and will to win and he's over estimating his ability to absorb that type of power. I could see Kovelev stopping him. I remember that Pascal had him high as a kite. Don't let Kovelev get him in that position at any time in the fight or it's good night nurse. I don't think the huggy bear or the rope a dope is gonna work. He will have to fight and in that case, he must make Kovelev respect him in order to out box him. The unknown factor is Kovelev's chin.

Maybe that is something which Hopkins has seen and might use as his ace up his sleeve?

I don't think Hopkins is going to be the one to test Kovalev's chin.

Kovalev should keep up his work rate, make Hopkins's old legs work. He also needs to work the body, make Hopkins tire out. He is almost 50, after all.

I could see Kovalev stealing rounds with effective aggression.

I have a spare $100 ticket to Hopkins-Kovalev because my friend can't make it from Baltimore, free to any posters.

I'm over in New York from the UK and travelling down to the fight on Saturday. Can meet you there or send the ticket to you by Ticketmaster ticket transfer. PM me if you are interested.
