Alright, let's just have it out.

    Enough pu$$y-footing around the issue.

There has been enough comparison of their ability and accomplishments that obviously it has reached the critical mass of what you'd call a "rivalry", at least between their fan bases (even overlapping as they do). So before it reaches the point of comparing the length & girth of their hogs based on the impression outlines in their skivvies at weigh-ins, let's just do the h2h match-up thing now.

Yes, they are two weights apart but people clamor for both to fight the same man (Ward) in the division betwixt them, and there is the fact that Golovkin is rumored to have dropped or stopped Kovalev in sparring, depending on from whom you're getting the story. Plus, Golovkin is a large middleweight and has fought many boxers in the amateurs who eventually went on to be super middles or light heavies in the pros. He also has the much less questioned chin than Kovalev (who is proving his own to be more and more solid, but still is unquestionably susceptible based on certain past events, and thereby more vulnerable than Golovkin has ever been shown to be) and is considered the more skilled, not that Kovalev isn't skilled; while Kovalev is considered the hardest puncher (both in pound for pound and straight-up terms), not that Golovkin doesn't punch hard.

Obviously this entails Golovkin moving up to 175lbs, if that weren't obvious.

Anything else and you're risking a Ward vs. Dawson type situation.

Kovalev looks unstoppable at 175. GGG looks awesome at 160 but he is not a particularly big MW. GGG might be successful at SMW but LHW would be a step too far especially if he was to fight the best LHW.

GGG for me, cant see the fight happening though because I cant see GGG willing to go so far out of his division just for Kovalev to stay where he is comfortable but regardless I see GGG KO'ing him.

If Golovkin jumps up to 175, he gets beaten by a lot of fighters. Especially Kovalev.

GGG is not a big middleweight by any means

In a p4p sense he's better than Kovalev

But head to head the size disparity is just too big

Last week on here I proposed a 170 pound catchweight which I thought would be fair to both guys (and I can't stand catchweight fights) but I think Kovalev brutally beats GGG be it at 170 or 175. He is just too savage and calculated of a puncher and after last Saturday I feel stupid for even suggesting such a fight. Kovalev is a legit savage puncher with both hands and looks to be getting better every fight.

175 I'd pick Kovalev, 168 I think GGG stops him.

I think Golovkin is a better fighter overall (just going by the eye test, he looks less beatable than Kovalev to me in their respective divisions). However, this fight could only happen at 175, Kovalev most likely can't make 168 as he's already a pretty big light heavyweight and he mentioned that he wouldn't move down before for that reason, so it'd have to be at least a couple of years before it happens.

It's really hard to ****yze this in any real depth at the moment, I mean the natural assumption is that right now Golovkin would get beat by Kovalev at 175 for certain.

I would go with Golovkin by stoppage in the later rounds. I would love to see this fight. I dont think it necessarily has to be at 175, they could meet at 168. I could see each being down at somepoint in the fight.

I'd have to favor the bigger man if Golovkin was asked to move up to LHW and fight Kovalev straight away

But Golovkin is a beast so you never know

    Hard to call.

Put it this way- I'd give Golovkin a hell of a lot better chance than Stevenson of beating Krusher at 175, and I think GGG beats everybody else in the 175 division too.

On a limp, I'll go with Golovkin on points.

I have seen Kovalev pushed inside that ring. Pascal exploited the flaws that i thought he had. Going into the Hopkins fight i was sure Hopkins would do it aswell but i was wrong in my assesment of Kovalev. He is a lot better than i had imagined.

Golovkin, i have not yet seen pushed so i dont really know what to make of it. I know it would be competitive but i dont know who to pick :think
