True there is a massive size difference and logically Kovalev should beat GGG up but we have a trainer and rumors saying the smaller guy kicked the bigger guys ass is sparring so thats why we are having this discussion.

Kovalev by destruction, he would probably have 15-20 pounds on GGG come fight night...

Weak Ruiz has victory against Holyfield, Rayman, Tony Tucker, Andre Golata, Fred Oquando. But hey, you can believe whatever you want to believe.

I wonder why no one seems to comment on the two other fighters that I mentioned. I guess an old past his prime Jones is more convenient in favor of your argument.

    Here it is.

Question to Kovalev: "GGG's power is real/overrated/a myth?"

    Kovalev:
"Not a myth. He hits even maybe not like a lightheavy but a heavy, I can't say for sure. Gena hits strong, quick and with a snap. I can't say how to compare power of a middle/supermiddle/heavy but when he lands his shots on you, you feel damage on your body. In sparrings with him your self defense mechinism starts working at 100% and you get cautious and attentive.
Off course when I came back from Russia untrained I could not work with him at 100% but later when I gained my form we had pretty good sparring sessions where we hit each other like mules, anything could happen in those sessions, I got hit, he got hit. That's it "

I think this would be a great fight even though one's a MW and one's a LHW.

This ^. Golovkin hasn't really spoken about sparring Kovalev, but Sergei's mentioned it. Says he had to take a knee to GGG in a session shortly after returning to camp, but that later sessions were competitive. WRT Sanchez' comments it seems he wanted Kovalev as an 'opponent' for GGG that would come at him firing on all cylinders, but that Kovalev elected to box more against a dangerous opponent.

Certainly we know nothing of significance that would tell us about the outcome of a genuine fight.

IMO Golovkin is the more complete fighter, but whether that would be enough to overcome the size (and possible power) difference is hard to decide. Certainly Kovalev isn't planning on fighting below 175lbs so unless GGG ends up fighting at LHW we'll probably never know.

Actually i pick Golovkin, if anything Abel Sanchez says is true.

He said Kovalev seemed to either fight scared or had too much respect for GGG.

    A career 160lber against a career 175lber?

What have you lot been smoking?

That's just as stupid as suggesting Mayweather should fight Andre Ward.

If for some crazy reason this fight ever did happen at 175, Kovalev would kill GGG. Actually kill.

they have sparred together so it's not that crazy. Floyd fought Canelo, Pacquiao fought Cotto, Haye fought Wlad, Hopkins went from MW to LHW, Toney fought at HW etc

    Hopkins vs Tarver?
GGG beat Korobov, Dirrell, Bute, Despaigne, and Lee in the ams, all taller fighters. Despaigne is a light heavyweight. Fighting taller, bigger fighters is his specialty.
