    Kovalev, as good as he is, has never been hit by hard-punching LHW, let alone CW like Dempsey.

    Kovalev was dropped heavily by supermidleweight Boone, and was knocked out cold in amateurs.

    IF Dampsely lands clean, refere can count to 1000 and Kovalev won't get up.

    why put him in ring against an atg hw, when he has yet to face even a prime elite in his own lower division?

    Yeah.. It is no brainer. We are talking about jack dempsey here.. ONE of the most feroucious boxers of all time.he destroyed big guys also.plus dempsey was mobile and fast, not the classic ponderous slow big hw

    I'd favour Kovalev, technically better, can control Dempsey and set up attacks with his jab.

    I'd pick Dempsey, but I don't know that he'd have ever seen better punches and he certainly never saw a better jab. It's an excellent fight I think.

    Do you have any substantial argument to make regarding this match-up, any actual ****ysis given both fighters styles, proclivities or records? Or are going repeat the same drivel over and over?

    As the situation stands at the moment, we know that Dempsey could beat somebody like Kovalev, and we don’t know if Kovalev could beat somebody like Dempsey.

    This makes it pretty hard to pick against Dempsey, at this stage.

    I would be interested to see Kovalev at cruiserweight however.

    Dempsey is definitely the "safe bet". But that doesn't make him the only bet. There were certainly people that bet on Carpantier. I'd bet bet on Kovalev to blast Carpantier into the next ring.
