Kovalev beat Cleverly, Campillo, Hopkins and Pascal. Chickenson beat shot to **** Dawson and some bums and he is still #1 on boxrec, wtf?

I dislike Bika actually, but I'll root for anyone that steps in with Stevenson.

Hell, I even rooted for that scumbag Donovan George. :!:

If Pascal can rebound from this beating, he can definitely beat Stevenson.

I'm not sure if it's true but according to a few people GGG man handled Kov sparring.

Could be just a blown out of proportion story and I know it's just sparring but if that's anywhere near true GGG must be a total monster.

It has to be remembered tha Kovalev already killed a man in the ring so no point in making Pascal take unnecesary punishment while clearly out on his feet. Fight had to be stopped.

Kovalev seems like he's got that nasty side to his character that V. Klitschko used to show, where he really wants to hurt you in the ring, not just beat you. He got caught on the counter because he decided that Pascal didn't have much for him, skills-wise.

Re-watch the early exchanges where he sets up court in the middle of the ring, and starts one-twoing and jabbing Pascal's guard (and catching the top of his head, more often than not). Pascal quickly switched to an invitational clinch guard to slip Kovalev's forearm/shoulder check as he came in for another one-two on the counter.

Classic counter strategy, but it was only going to work while Kovalev was letting loose. Somewhere around Rd 5-6 he started boxing again (having decided that the fight wasn't over after Rd 3, finally), and Pascal's chances receded into the distance.

Pascal made himself look good by absorbing a lot of punishment and getting some good shots in during the exchanges, but he created nothing of his own offense. It was purely reactionary, and ultimately would have worked only against a pressure fighter who didn't throw bricks with every power punch. You can't let that guy tee off on you, and Kovalev did so on at least three separate occasions.

Pascal had quite a ways to go in that round and he was getting the hell beat out of him if it had gone another minute who knows what could have happened he was starting to look very defenseless

I wont mind Sergey fighting Chilemba and Braehmer, they are in top 10 and never been Kayod. Kovalev is pretty young for this weight division and he can wait for Betterbiev.
