    This is all Sosa now, 9th his best round. Gamboa floundering, holding, tiring, Sosa strong, landing several hard rights especially to the body. Waits for Gamboa to finish punching, positions himself, then plops rights on Gamboa's face. 5-4 Sosa. With the point Sosa wins if he stands up.

    Gamboa is caught with a stiff jab. Gamboa answers with a 1-2-3 on the face and then ducks in behind his forearms with his face nestled in the crooks of his elbows. Sosa is missing high jabs as Gamboa dives in to hold, and then clubbing Gamboa's back with the right arm. More clinching. The ref makes good on his promise and docks a point from Gamboa for excessive holding. Sosa is failing to put together a big surge here to get the KO and remove it from the judges' hands, even though Gamboa has essentially been neutered by the ref and deprived of his current main defense now that he is gassed. Sosa content to just lob a few pot shots and wrestle free of Gamboa's clinches. No urgency. Gamboa is catching 1-2s on his left forearm, sloping it out from a backward-leaning stance on the outside, shoulder popped up high over his chin.

    9-9 (10-9 Gamboa close, minus the point deduction)
