Sergey Kovalev Wants Third Fight W/ Andre "Ball Puncher" Ward; Says They Are 1-1!

Ward wasn't juice in the 2nd right stop that bs. And it was a legal body shot cause it was clearly hit on the belt line.

 

I think Kovalev was winning the second fight wide until the "KO".

To be fair though, Ward fought an excellent strategic fight and Kovalev paid the price for fighting with his rpm in the red every round. He did gas and the low blow was the nail in the coffin. People say that Ward would have won anyway, and there's a fair argument to that effect. I have always argued that Kovalev should have been given a chance to either get his second wind or for Ward to win by legit KO. The ref stoppage was awful.

On the OTHER hand, Kovalev saying it is 1-1 is actually EXCELLENT news for the Krusher. It means that he recognises that he had deficiencies the second fight - ie - he was not conditioned like he should have been - and that he will (hopefully) take steps to correct this. If he remained fixated on the lowblow KO he would actually be holding himself back.

I hear ya there. I also think all the VADA BS and the PED signs Ward showed in that rematch played a big part too. If Sergey had a better promoter and both those fights happened overseas (Which would have been fair because Ward NEVER fought across the pond and Sergey was the champ) Kovalev would have beaten Ward twice.

Imagine he had to travel to the champions back yard in Russia. Would have been a completely different story

 

I agree that they should have pushed for an overseas fight. But if they were both on VADA then I don't believe the peds angle. I think that Kovalev has some lax training habits that he's gotten away with because of his talent and athleticism and that they have caught up with him now.

 

Kovalev backyard is the US.

 

I've been saying this for months. And it should have been that way. Kovalev was the champ and Ward never fought outside the states.

 

I think it was @Kevin Willis who posted some VERY interesting stats and facts on the number of times Ward got tested (ONCE) compared to Kovalev in the lead up. And did you see that back acne on Ward in those pics??

That was Jacobs vs GGG. I could find no evidence that wWard was ever tested and some dispute that one test for Jacobs claiming it was zero.

Evidently GGG and Canelo were both tested multiple times the week of their fight but who cares when one guy is tested year round and the other only on the week of the fight.

 

Yet has only fought there 3 times. Not much of a back yard.
