I wrote that before the Alvarez loss. Kovalev's conditioning problem now seems to be getting worse. I'm a Kovalev fan, but I don't think he can get back to dominant form anymore.

Yeah it's a shame. I really like watching him stalk his prey and then deliver the beatdown. Always rooted for him vs anybody except Ward.

Go and compare the current frame of Kovalev, and the LHW frame of Bellew.

Bellew was much smaller and looked like a Skeleton!

Kovalev easily gets a belt at cruiserweight if Usyk vacates. Kovalev would easily beat a stiff like Gassier or a scrub like Dorticos. Briedis would and Glowacki would be competitive, but would still get outboxed. Besides Usyk and Bellew Kovalev is better than the whole division.

The fighters at cruiserweight besides Usyk aren't half as skilled as the fighters at 175. Bellew, who easily became a champ cruiserweight wasn't championship material at 175, since he easily got cutdown when he challenged for a title.

The much higher skill level of light heavyweights easily makes up for the size different. Also, light heavyweight is a very competitive division while cruiserweight isn't. Edison Miranda, who couldn't compete at 175 anymore and was coming off an almost one year layoff was easily Dortico's best opponent before his fight with Gassiev. Miranda had no problem competing with Dortico's and even managed to rock him.

No. He straight up needs to retire. And he needs to stop blaming his stamina problems and inability to absorb prolonged body punishment on anything other than his alcoholism, ****--poor training habits, and lack of dedication, drive, and focus. Unfortunately he's starting to come across as more of a circus side show than a prizefighter. It's a shame really, had he wanted it half as much as many of his fans wanted it, there was always the possibility he kept progressing under JDJ and became an ATG. Not saying that was likely or probable, but he had the skills, size/physical profile, talent, athleticism, and some incredible God--given tools to have certainly achieved that status and he had the right trainer in JDJ to do it with. Unfortunately he just so sorely lacked in almost every intangible category that achieving ATG status really was impossible. And that's cool, because hes a ****ing dickhead bully. Just go away Kovalev. I really have a hard time stomaching "what-if?" cases when the "what-if's" are totally in their control.

You think he's getting knocked out now, just wait till he gets to cruiser, he will be the knockout victim's poster child.

I don't know. I didn't expect him to get knocked out in his last two fights. His career is now unpredicatable. I know one thing, he better work on defense or some other tactic whether he stays at 175 or moves up to 190

I get the feeling there's something personal going on between you and Dorticos. Did you by any chance bet heavily on Dorticos to beat the stiff no-power Gassiev?

Cruiserweight is 200lb, hence the reluctance for many LHW to move up a huge 25lb.

    Easily? GTFO
Kalenga and Kudryashov were leagues above.
But it just shows how think Dorticos' resume was. And Miranda wasn't winning any rounds, he was competitive but not winning anything. This is why Gassiev dominated near every round vs Dorticos.

Looking pretty good for that 18 month prediction.

I personally can't see a move the cruiserweight ending well.
