Sergey Kovalev's next opponent revealed!

For a three month return Main Events committed to we couldn't have expected Beterbiev or Gvozdyk. They said Barrera had the choice of Kovalev or Bivol next, and he took Bivol. There weren't many top guys available for Kov.

 

I just recently got bummed out by the heavyweight division. The best just aren't fighting each other.
I guess it affected me a bit. Fingers crossed for a better fight next time out.

 

Mikhalkin is a decent fighter but I think its fair to have expected a bit better. It's good to see Kovalev being active and hopefully he fights the Bivol vs Barrera winner in the summer as a unification.

 

Damn great fight for bivol especially as it’s only his 13th fight.

 

Big fan of Kovalev but this fight is a stinker , but i assume that Barrera doesnt want to fight him for 500k or so and Gvozdyk doesnt as well since him and Kovalev are friends, Bivol vs Kovalev has to happen next at least or Beterbiev , good thing is Kovalev and Beterbiev hate each other so now that both have a belt each should fight definitely in Russia next year.

I think Bivol and Kovalev got same promoter and Barrera is with Duva as well ,isnt exactly worth it to match them against each other unless its at least unification but still no big money , kinda disappointing.And also Stevenson is never gonna step up , so many good fights at 175 but for some reason those arent keen to face each other for 500k to 1 mil approximately.

EDIT: I recall now that Barrera was mando for one of Kovalev`s titles but went to fight Ward for 500k instead while Kovalev held IBF,WBO and WBA ,Barrera rather fights Ward,Bivol and even Beterbiev but keeps avoiding Kovalev ,i dont think its about the money or titles then ...he doesnt want to get brutally knocked out and fancies his chances vs Bivol , tho he will lose probably as well.

 

Bit of a disappointing opponent, but with Barrera opting for what he thinks is the easier option in Bivol, and a couple of the other big names going different paths with the belts shattered all over the place again, it's harder to get bigger names in there.
That said, Mikhalkin looks like a Wilder type opponent.
Belts shattered, sting gets pulled out of the division.

 

It's not good but it's not bad either. Dude isn't a name but he's an alright fighter.
