Dochev is coming in predictably, bouncing at the knees and hunting for a piece of Mitev's body from long range. Counters by Mitev, leaning his upper frame back and then lashing out with long hooks to the body or placing jabs accurately on Dochev's forehead as the shorter man leans in on him coming forward. Some nice slippery hands-down elusiveness by Mitev.

Dochev is ducking and rolling in and manages to catch Mitev with a solid right hand rocketing up. Dochev spends the next two minutes following, not punching. Mitev is slapping him with counter right upper-hooks from outside to the ribs and cheek. Wild flurry by Mitev as Dochev runs in low and bulldozes him to the ropes with high right hands, both missing.

Dochev is pressing the action, slinging in hooks with both hands and driving Mitev back, walking through his jabs. Mitev is drawing his head back as he pokes with the jab to hold Dochev off. Slap-hooks by Mitev, landing across the back as Dochev ducks in and throws more hooks, headhunting.

Dochev is jumping around Mitev and hooking at him. Mitev dives in with jabs and uppercuts, smothering himself draped over Dochev, caught partially with hooks as he backs out. Light wet noodles 1-2s by Mitev across the back of Dochev. Body shots by Dochev.

I'm fine with the idea of putting low-level guys on TV...but only if they are exciting (or their styles blend in a way that is compelling to watch)

 

Round 6

Mitev is turning southpaw and jabbing as he coasts widely around Dochev. Right upper-hook to the body by Mitev. Dochev hurts Mitev with a right hand knocks him back into a stumble. Mitev ambushes Dochev and chops him on the face with several hard counters, having recovered faster than Dochev thought he would. Wild hooks by Mitev, missing over Dochev's head. Clinch. Dochev digs to the body. Mitev continues swinging big hooks over his head, swiveling his entire body around. BIG left hook by Dochev coming up from a crouch. Mitev answer back with a 1-2 lunging forward off the ropes, again recovering instantly. Uppercut by Dochev, caught on the arms, followed by a hammering right as Mitev leans forward. They flurry at the bell. Right hook by Mitev.

I very nearly did the same and came up with a draw but Dochev got in enough hard strikes in the last minute to seal it.

Steve Lillis says Dochev vs. Mitev was the 2nd worst fight ever aired on BoxNation. (the worst happened on some German card they picked up)

 

Lillis says he thinks Mingaleyev holds the record for total # of appearances in the UK for overseas boxers.

He calls him a decent pro. Hmm. Of his twenty-seven victories (eight by KO) nearly all were making their debut or had losing records. :think

He only got stopped 19% of his losses as of tonight...so I guess that is something to crow about. :conf

 

Sonny Upton vs. Goga Koshkelishvili, 6 rounds @ light welterweight

 

Round 1

Koshkelishvili is marching forward and waving his jab, then chopping with a long right hand. Upton ducks low under the right and moves laterally away from the jab, doubling his own into Koshkelishvili's face. Nice looping right by Upton. Switch-hitting and jabbing with both hands, Upton keeps his back off the ropes gliding around the perimeter.

Upton is a stablemate of Burnett & Jenkins under the Ricky Hatton banner. He is matched here a bit tougher than Jenkins, in with a 1-0 Georgian looking more comparable in class to Burnett's earlier Madridian foe.

A fourth Hatton lad, Adam Etches, has yet to be shown but is scheduled to box a Latvian journeyman on the card.
