To determine the IBF mandatory contender at middleweight. Derevyanchenko is currently ranked 3rd and Culcay is 2nd, with the number one spot vacant.

The epitome of Euro level, in both the colloquial sense (to give you a sense of his relative ability vis-a-vis world class) and in terms of his style...although he's originally Ecuadorian.

Thanks. I just found his fight with Sulecki on YT so maybe I'll watch a little later.

Great description. He is a pretty good Euro level guy though, not a Euro guy in the most negative sense. Derevyanchenko should win by wide UD or late stoppage.

Exactly. Sometimes I use that colloquialism and people jump down my throat as though I were insulting the fighter (or the entire continent of Europe). Like, no, you fucking dumb asses, continental level (for which that has become the most recognizable byword as just a figure of speech) is by definition below world level, but signficantly higher than domestic and exponentially higher than area level. Calling someone that means they would be in the running to compete for a Euro title but would probably never belong in nor do well in a world title fight...which makes them better than like 90% of fighters on the planet and isn't an insult whatsoever.

Jack gave Sulecki hell and even rocked him a few times, because Sulecki who likes to keep the fight at range, isn't the greatest inside fighter, and also managed to have a fairly close fight with Andrade for the very same reasons. Unfortunately for him Derevyanchenko is a very good inside fighter, and Jack's style will play right into Sergey's hands and he'll be ripped to pieces and stopped late for the first time in his career.

Culcay is very tough and underrated, but I think Derevyanchenko is too good for him.

As has been said above, Culcay is a European level fighter and Derev is world class. Culcay is durable enough to probably go the distance but he isn't likely to win this one.
