Martínez may well be the only Argentine fighter still actively competing whose life overlapped that of Bonavena. (Ringo died in May of 1976, when Maravilla was a fifteen-month-old baby)

 

I guess that all depends on whether you count Gonzalo Omar Basile as still active. He does have just shy of a year on Martínez, but he last fought in 2021. So, borderline call ...unless any of the resident hardcore nerds that follow the South American scene happen to know whether the big face-tatted lug ever officially retired?

Laureano Ubiedo "Dinamita" Sciuto is the southpaw in white trunks, with a tattoo behind his right ear and either bicep fully covered.

Héctor Andrés "Maquinita" Sosa is the orthodox fighter in pink & black, with the neck tat and just a ring around each bicep.

 

Round 1

Sciuto is aggressively pushing in behind the busy right jab, throwing heavy lefts up top or stepping all the way through with uppercuts. Sosa is ducking and weaving, guard up, sometimes pressing forward to meet Sciuto and sometimes moving laterally. When he throws, Sosa is climbing up from the hip with combos or throwing big lead hooks, taking bigger risks but whiffing.

Round 2

Sosa brings some heat early and rocks Sciuto with some big left hooks up on his toes and reaching above his own shoulder height to dig into Sciuto's chin. Sosa keeps whipping both hands in, roundhouse, to gain entry and then working uppercuts. Sciuto looking very fragile. Sosa hunting. Crowd getting amped up. Sciuto begins to pump the southpaw jab and establish some control of range. First two minutes was all Sosa. Now a 1-2 gets through for Sosa with Sciuto again looking as though he may fall. Sciuto lazily circles into the ropes and sits on the middle one briefly until Sosa tags him with a jab on the mouth and then starts raining down with more leather. Sciuto flees, hurt, and flings desperation overhands at the bell.

Both men are from different neighborhoods in Buenos Aires (Sosa from Junín and Sciuto from San Pedro), so each has their own vocal cheering section in the crowd.

 

Round 3

Sciuto being stalked as Sosa looks to continue his dominance from the second round. Sciuto able to set traps and spear his pursuer with the left hand down the pipe after getting walked down for a bit. Sosa catching those long lead lefts on the body and face, slowing him down. Sosa not cutting the distance well, letting Sciuto freeze him with the jab into the guard and wary of those left hands. Nice bounce-back from a guy that looked ready to be KTFO a few minutes ago.

I didn't realize this event was being put on by Chino Maidana Promotions. It doesn't say as much on BoxRec and yet there is the giant banner right there in the arena...

 

Round 4

Sciuto is leading Sosa by the nose around the ring, taking long backward steps and lighting him up with jabs every time Sosa mows his way in and starts lathering up shots in sequence. The right jab bang on his eyeball is a problem for Sosa. Powerful hooks by Sosa, missing as he isn't yet in range. Lots of movement from Sciuto, mostly with his legs but starting to also lean & twist in order to conserve a bit of gas now.
