I'll give Martinez this, he looks absolutely shredded.

He was immediately in the top 10 or close to it when he returned in 2020. And he pretty quickly made his way to the top 5 or so. But then he was stuck there for a while, and I didn´t really pay any more attention to it as Martinez did take a few long breaks in 2021 and 22.
 Then I read that Zerafa was the Nr 1 and 2 ranked guy with the WBA and IBF and upon looking into it, found out that Martinez was effectively the nr 1 himself now.
How Martinez got the WBA ranking without paying any sanctioning fees is beyond me. He has never held any WBA belt. Only thing I can take a guess at is that someone in the WBA is a huge fan.

:lol:And how the **** did Zerafa get such high rankings, including 7th by the WBO? HOW AND WHEN?!?!?!
I still remember this being considered an absolute joke and a travesty at the same time:

...beating Horn and Mundine, mostly. Martínez's is likely just down to him getting star treatment, yeah. Very hard to justify.

Appearing in the WBA top fifteen rankings mean that you're somewhere approximately between the best and thousandth-best in your division. They are not to be taken seriously.

He looks absolutely amazing for a man his age. It´s insane how athletic he still is.
But remember how he had balance issues in his prime? Yea, that has gotten much worse now. Even when he blocks a good punch, it often throws him slightly off balance. Either Macaulay McGowan or Brian Rose, can´t remember which one, managed to stun him slightly. And it was again a balance issue.

Overall, a sharp shooter like Lara should be able to deal with him the way Cotto did. Unless Lara has gotten too old himself as well.
