Martinez knew he would get robbed again, so he knocked Williams out.

Anybody else think the ref was doing a terrible job? He broke them up right away every single time they got close. I was talking to my t.v. after the first minute of the the first round. Also, even my half blind grandmother could see that Williams did not need a count, he looked dead!

It wasn't all clean infighting, though. There was a good deal of tangling and Sergio giving up his back to Williams. Part of the ref's job is to minimize awkwardness and ugliness on the inside to ensure there aren't accidental fouls like headbutts and rabbit punches. Clinch separation isn't only about disrupting excessive holding as an illegal tactic.

As for the delayed reaction to realizing that Williams was KTFO beyond the need for yelling numbers, the man honestly appeared to be just as much in shock as the rest of us. :yep

I suppose so. There were a few times it got messy, but he never gave them a chance to work on the inside either. Both have decent inside game and it would have been interesting to see them go at it at super close range.

This decade starts from 2010 - 2019. We still have 9 years of fights to compare before we can declare that KO as KO of the decade. Maybe KO of the year will do for now.
