..... And what Martinez showed us last night is that he's largely dependent on his opponent throwing individual shots - specifically the jab - so he can counter over that with his 1-2's, 1-2-1's, and 1-2-3's. Only problem is; if he's not getting the single jab he can't do a whole helluva lot to 'create.' Whenever Cintron threw combinations it ****ed Martinez's plans all up. That was disappointing. Personally, I expected a little more.
he would beat mora and the nice stepping stone for kirkland and angulo..so make the most out of it before the young guns reach their peak..
I like his style and flair in the ring. He's a good fighter, and would be dangerous for anyone at 147/154. I'd like to see him get some bigger fights. He beat Cintron as far as I'm concerned, by a wide UD, if not a KO.
I had never seen Martinez fight. But he had a great performance last night. Sadly he was robbed of a decision win. I was rooting for Cintron but he looked like an amateur in that fight
Very good. Forrest should give him what he earned last night, a shot at the WBC title. IMO the only fighter in the division that CAN test Williams and WILL fight him (as Drizsnuk, bad spelling, has the tools but apparently doesn't have the balls) and I wouldn't bet on Martinez pulling it off. I think Martinez can beat Forrest at this stage of Vernon's career.
