I haven’t really thought about it at length but I do think Eddie has stretched himself a bit thin lol. There’s a bit too many cards coast to coast, but I also think fundamentally there’s something wrong with many of the prospects Eddie’s pushing and they have to be carefully protected. We’ve seen it with Ritson and now Cheeseman, and I think there was another in between but I can’t remember who exactly. There seems to be a lack of development after a certain point where the fighters just seem to stagnate after they start moving onto 8-10 round fights.

You're right, Cheeseman would have needed at least 2 knockdowns to get the draw in Cali :p:lol:

Honestly thought he looked a bit panicked and was throwing too many punches trying too hard to keep Cheeseman off him in the 1st.
Cheeseman looked pretty decent actually, calm and landing some good body shots.

Garcia's defense looked leaky in the 1st, but he looked more settled in the 2nd and 3rd.
Cheeseman was still not looking bad in the 2nd and 3rd, but he needed to work harder.
Garcia was nicking rounds on work rate he was not looking levels above at this point.

4th round was a back and forth round, Ted started well but Garcia was taking his shots well.
Garcia was getting hit a fair bit but was coming back with a lot of good work too.
Ted needed this round to get a bit of confidence and Garcia knocked that confidence by finishing the round well.

5th round was the key round. Ted was starting to throw punches with bad intentions. He was throwing too hard and winging punches, and his accuracy was very poor. The round started pretty evenly but Garcia was making him miss.
Garcia was quite impressive with his movement and defense. He was always in range because he was always working, but Cheeseman was still struggling to find him and break through his guard.

The last minute of the 5th round Garcia actually started to dominate. He was full of confidence letting his hands go and dropping his guard for a bit. Cheeseman looked shell shocked and fatigued.

After the 5th it was one way traffic. The Cheese started paying for his defensive flair lol
He couldn't even move his head and with his hands down style he was taking every shot straight to the melon.

If Garcia could punch he might have killed him

Why was that “fight” allowed to continue - why wasn’t it stopped by the ref, or the ringside physician when a fighter is clearly not defending himself?

What a disgraceful display by his corner - they should be ashamed and frankly there should be repercussions for this kind of recklessness.

The sad part is this will be lauded as a Cheeseman having “heart” and being a “warrior”, rather than a poorly trained, misguided kid who was just thrown to the wolves by the people who are supposed to have his safety as their highest priority, and allowed to take such a defenseless beating?

Sorry for the rant.... but that fight really was an atrocious display.

I guess that the cheese melted? :boxing1

Anyway, jokes aside, Fowler, who seems to think the Cheeseman fight is there on a plate for him, has to get through my boy Scott Fitzgerald first on March 30th.

Many a time a fighter has looked at fights ahead whilst undermining the fight at hand.

    C'mon Fitzy lad!!
