Sergio Garcia born 10/12/1992 is a 5'11 1/2 Light Middleweight with a 28-0 13 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain. I know very little about this kid other than he's managed by Sergio Martinez and he's from Spain, and he quite the exciting fighter. He reminds me of a full grown younger and far better looking version of his stablemate Kiko Martinez but not as one dimensional, as far as his in ring style goes. He comes forward and throws punches like a machine, he needs to work on tightening up his defense a little. But hopefully Sergio can take him under his wing an instill in him some of his knowledge. He has a good jab, pretty fast hands and throws decent combos, so with some more polishing he might be a real diamond in the rough. He improves from fight to fight, getting slicker each time I see him. He's also happens to be a pretty good looking kid like his manager, so he'll be pretty easy to market. Hopefully Martinez can really get behind some young up and comers in Spain and try to nurture the sport a little, because Spain and Italy most likely have a lot to offer, but no one is tapping into that market deep enough. Is he the new Maravilla of the Mediterranean? Check Out The Golden Boy Of Torrelavega.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Sergio is impressive, I saw the fight, he was throwing like 100 punches per round, even in the last rounds, he has good stamina for sure, he is only 24yo and made it easier than Culcay or Vitu against Chaca, he won the WBC silver super welterweight belt, now he is high ranked and might do soon a title eliminatory in the USA.
Great boxing weekend for spaniard as Kerman Lejarraga debuted yesterday in the USA winning his bout by TKO2 as well as Jonfer who scored a big KO. Cant wait to see this three young talents at big fights:ggg

5'11 just no longer seems unusually tall for a jMW or even WW nowadays

my as-yet untested recollection is that this wasn't always the case. Anyone similar or opposing estimate?

assuming my hunch is accurate--ie, that average height among WW, jMW, and MW has increased over the past two decades--is this due to more sophisticated weight-cutting techniques?

(and perhaps amplified by more fighters exploiting those techniques to remain in their extant weight class as long as possible)
