Sergio Martienez on goin up or down in weight

If you think Martinez brings nothing, that a win over Martinez for either, is nothing, you need to find a new sport or fighter to bandwagon Blizz. :roll: Every time you post it's like a child talking to adults trying to toss out ideas he thinks are cool.

Would not matter the weight, coward Mayweather would not touch this guy, way too dangerous.

Manny would fight him, but Sergio is too big now for 150.

 

I've always been syaing that Martinez is too small for 168, he's a very small middleweight as it is and like he said doesn't even walk around over the SMW limit when not training. The guy is a natural JMW and only left the division cause he had no big fights there and was offered a shot at the middleweight belt vs the much bigger Pavlik, after he won he stayed at middleweight cause he was the champ but he belongs at 154.

 

I feel for Martinez. He's stuck in a dead division and the guys above are too big are the big names below won't fight him. He needs them to make him a star and yet they won't fight because he isn't a star, so it's a Catch 22 situation.

Hopefully he can fight the loser of Cotto/Margarito, especially if it's Margarito. That fight will sell and give Martinez the exposure he needs.

 

I think the middleweight division is improving drastically, within the next couple of years its probably going to be the best division in boxing.

As for Martinez, he has three choices:

1 - stay where he is and clean up middleweight, theres plenty guys coming through who could be top draws in the coming years.

2. Move down - commit to it and keep trying to pick a fight with Pac or Mayweather, and possibly fighting the likes of Cotto, Marg, Angulo etc at 154 while he hopes to get one of them.

3. move up and fight the supersix lot and other top SMW - Im sure he could easily get fights with Froch, Bute, Ward, Kessler etc

Mate, being a fan of boxing should be more than being a fan of a single fighter. I infer from this comment that you wouldn't want to see either fight take place? Think about it for a second, as a so called "boxing fan," you would not want to see Sergio vs Pac/May? It's the second biggest fight that can be made right now...

Sergio stands a chance at 150. The weight would carry implications for all 3 which might drag them out of their comfort zone slightly, but it's all part and parcel of heart and lagacy. Pac would be going 5lb above what is considered right now his best weight (145), May would be going 3lb above his best weight of 147, and Sergio would be losing 4lb from his ideal 154-160lb weight.

Regardless of who would ultimately win/lose, it'd be a fascinating competition between the best boxers alive today and the sport as whole would benefit massively from it.

Don't be scared to see Pac or May lose. I'm more afraid of their talents being wasted fighting lesser competition for the remainder of their careers.

 

Sergio is a sure fire hall of famer. Just saying' :hat

 

Martinez-Pac at 154. No more, no less.

 

What has he done? Oh, just win the World MW title and had a great year. And present himself a major threat to the two best boxers in the world? Is that good enough for you? WTF does any of that matter anyway? Are those the criteria for ALL of Floyd's opponents, because if that's the case, what about Ortiz? :roll:
