  1. Shane Mosley, really? Catchweight of 155lbs.? This is how the middleweight champ plans on defending his title? Really?

Amen! This is exactly the type of thing Floyd catches hell for, but Martinez gets a pass.

If Taylor or Pavlik would have announced that they were going to make a voluntary defense against the current version of Shane, this forum would have exploded with hate threads. Martinez gets a pass.

    That's called hypocrisy.

They want to make old Mosley move up in weight to fight an extremely mobile fighter. They're hoping Martinez will beat Mosley impressively, so they can force Void to fight Martinez for the MW strap after he beats emmanuel. Their reasoning will be he beat him much better than you did. Beating a legend like Mosley will make Martinez moar famous. They should do big numbers when Void beats Mart.

    Source?

anyways if it happens so be it. I don't understand why he wants to defend his middleweight title @ 155 when he could just fight mosley @ 154. Isn't he still consider the man @ 154 so why not just fight mosley at jr middleweight?

His last three fights have been against top guys, Cintron, Williams, and the Pavlik. Dude's 36 and approaching the downside of his career soon. He's allowed to take a "money" fight isn't he? Especially after those three?

Apples and oranges comparing him to those established fighters making mega bucks already.

Besides, this is only a rumor at this point. How about waiting till it's actually signed, sealed and delivered before crucifying Martinez. Shane's also in talks to face Sergio Mora as well.

He's allowed a big money fight after 3 hard fights , no way shane is gonna just roll over though

  11. Lou Dibella made an offer to Shane to fight Martinez. I do not have a link. Uh, seriously, are you not aware that Martinez voluntarily gave up his Jr. Middleweight title so he could keep his Middleweight title? So, in doing that, he's saying he wants to campaign at middleweight. So, why in the hell is he wanting to fight a welterweight? The catch-weight **** is bad enough, but the fact that he is pulling this **** after having just vacated the jr. middleweight title makes it even more pathetic.

    Basically, it's unacceptable.

Martinez i think deserve a break by fighting easy opponent next since his last 2 fights was against Williams and then Pavlik. And besides who's out there at middleweight that would pay Martinez big bucks? Is there even a challenger in that division?

Felix Strum is stuck in germany.

  14. Those are some nice built-in excuses you have there. Fights he could have @ 160 that would pay him well: Paul Williams and a Kelly Pavlik rematch. It's not like he's going to make a killing fighting Shane, anyways. But, all of this is beside the point: he should not be fighting a blown-up welter if he wants to be taken serious @ middleweight. It's pathetic.

Hard working middleweight contenders get to sit on the sidelines while Martinez fights a shop worn welter who is 2-2 in his last 4 fights. Wake the **** up people!
