Martinez imo is/was the best MW since Hopkins, but imo he falls just short of ATG/HOF level. 160 just hasn't had the talent to really create a great great fighter, it's gotten worse now guys who couldn't even scratch a title during his time are now considered top fighters which shows how bad it actually is right now.

 

MW has fallen off since the late 90s. Hopkins fought an ATG in Roy Jones and got pasted by a man with 1 hand. He ducked Toney. He ducked Nunn. He ducked Benn. He ducked McClellan. He ducked Eubank. He beat a bunch of club fighters and contenders. And of course Welterweights.

 

I disagree, personally I think there are far too many GGG threads already and the last thing we need for all others to be converted into them too ...

 

Tony Margarito is his papa. Murray arguably took lineal from him in his own country. Chavez Jr. ruined him. Cotto destroyed him.

So no, neither HOF or ATG, except for all the ESB trannies who used to make thread after thread on here about how much they wanted to blow him. He's in their HOF.

 

No. I'm not even sure he makes HOF.

I would say Martinez is a borderline HOFer. Just didn't do enough in his career to merit the Hall.

sergio begin his career too late. other wise he could have potentially been an atg. but he was around of a decent amount of years and had a nice run. but not atg he was very good tho . was on a tear for a while and was in some rough fights. the first fight with p will is a classic. and all his string of fights cintron , pavlik , macklin, barker, chavez jr, murray was impressive.

 

His last 11 fights were all against good to very good fighters. His record in those 11 was
7-3-1. Not bad.

However he had only 1 fight against a name boxer before that time, and Margarito savaged him.
Was Margo using cement hands or not? We don't know.

Even if we ignore the Margo fight due to suspicions of cheating, his 7-3-1 against good, ranked opponents
is fine but it just isn't enough for either a HOF much less an ATG status.

IMO.
