Sergio Martinez Dislikes "Strange" Cotto, Says He'll Fight Him For Free

I think Martinez's internal frustrations are starting to come out, as he's getting more confident and bolder with each wins. Frustrations, as to not getting the credit, acknowledgment for his wins, as one would believe it would translate to bigger paydays and access to bigger fights.

He's done his homework, and still fighting/scrapping just trying to get his just-due. If it takes antagonizing and humiliating the other elite fighters in order to fight him, then so be it at this point.

His big problem is that he just doesnt have a great fanbase compared to others, and the smaller draw always works against him. This had been a promoting/financial issue when the other side asks "how much can you bring to the table?" Im hoping his financial leverage greatly improved with his exposure vs JCC jr.

The "free" part, is in reference to Martinez saying (a while back ago) that he'll give up his entire purse only if Cotto wins.

 

Serge was probably eyeballin Cotto's woman. Let's not pretend like Martinez is some angel or something...

 

The way he said we will talk after the Trout fight. Implying that he will win.. Like it's 100%.. :nono

 

Any info on WHY he (Cotto) refused?

This would be a war, and Cotto is not Chavez Jr. He is as good as the best at cutting the ring and his ring IQ is vastly superior.

At the end its anyone's fight with odd favoring Martinez but its not going to be a one side beating like the C Jr fight.

Martinez can be hit, and Cotto will force him to fight with his guard up, making Martinez change his style forcing a Cotto fight.

 

One thing you can never accuse Cotto of doing, is looking passed an opponent. :verysad
