What's his point? Is there any context, here? Is Sergio basically saying, "I'm not going to fight GGG because he doesn't deserve the fight."? A couple of months ago Sergio said he was going to "deal with Golovkin" after Cotto. This would be a lame excuse to go back on his previous statement. Using the old "he's beneath me" duck is hopefully not what Sergio is doing.

Besides, who else in the MW division does Sergio feel he should defend his MW crown against? Most analysts believe GGG is the #2 MW, and after the Chavez fight, GGG will likely be the biggest money MW fight Martinez could make. Overall, I think Canelo would probably be the only bigger money fight, and he's obviously not a MW, and I don't know that Canelo would take the fight.

If Golovkin-Chavez does better ppv numbers than Martinez-Cotto then Sergio might change his mind. After all, Sergio is just looking for that final big pay day.

Golovkin vs Chavez Jr wont do better numbers than Cotto vs Martinez. But if both GGG and Martinez win HBO can certainly offer their fight on PPV as GGG will be known by the casual fans for defeating JR.

GGG's, at best, the 3rd option out of 4 for Sergio.

    1) Floyd
    2) Canelo
    ??) GGG
    ??) Retirement

Depending on how vulnerable Serg looks against Cotto, it would not surprise if either Floyd or Canelo (or both) came in like vultures to pick off his title. Those fights also represent, clearly, the two largest possible paydays remaining for Sergio.

Only if neither man comes calling would plan B be determined, which would either be GGG or retirement.

Even if he is capable of more (and there's no guarantee he will be), don't be surprised if Sergio holds just a little back in the Cotto fight to lure in Alvarez or Floyd to get him that last big payday.

    You forgetting Marco Antonio Rubio?
Rubio vs Domenico Spada for the WBC Interim belt on Saturday

There's a chance he sticks around for it, but I have a feeling Rubio level may be where Martinez draws the line. I don't know how much longer he will (or can) hold out for one of the big paydays for him to take on a guy like Rubio in the meantime.

If Martinez gets a big win against Cotto, a "big money" homecoming fight in Argentina defending his WBC belt vs Rubio wouldn't surprise me at all.
Martinez needs the "big money" fights before he proves he is better than Golovkin.

indeed, Cotto may beat Sergio. The age, the layoffs and the knee injurie could make Martinez look shot in this fight.

But if he whoops Cotto then he should fight GGG. Anyway I have a feeling that Martinez will somehow want to fight Pacquiao (HBO stable) @ 152-154 lbs c/w to cash-out. :think

Even if he does that and wins, PBF/Alvarez vs Martinez won't happen due of HBO-SHO issues !

Why does Martinez still have the tile? Should have been stripped long ago. And what is his level? Ggg puts him to sleep as soon as he stays still.

Sergio now sounds like the punk kids from the movie friday
where they would talk sh.it to Chris tucker and Ice-T only
to get chased down the street screaming and wailing and
singing a whole different tune than when the two homies
were just sitting on the porch chillin'.
Sergio's beginning to undo the good but not great things
he did in his career. GGG is beating the breaks off of serg's
former foes that gave him a good fight, and he'll do the
same to big head in July. Then maybe triples can bring
back the same drunk Pavlik Sergio beat for the linear belt
and then he's accomplished as much as Sergio did.

Rest assured this ****** won't go away and enjoy his retirement payday. He will shoot for another against Mayweather or Canelo as already stated above. Furthur putting the division on hold for his drama.

Poor Golovkin, he cannot establish himself because his rivals are milking retirement paydays or hiding behind networks.

I am inclined to believe Golovkin's PPV will at least be on par with Martinez' or do even better.

Only if he manages to drop a decision(P.Williams) and fight to a draw(Cintron) along the way.

Is all I hear from Sergi-ho

He should let Dibella make excuses for him so he can keep ducking GGG (like he's been doing for the last couple years) because he's starting to look pathetic, his words reminded me of Floyd here
