Sergio was talking about money, not about skills. It's a translation issue.

That actually makes considerably more sense than the interpretation many here have put on Maravilla comments - I was a bit confused myself by what was meant by 'territory wise'.

In that sense of course, Maravilla remains the bigger star, and GGG would be the B side in a match-up - nonetheless, Golovkin is the next biggest name at 160 (possibly excepting Sturms draw in Germany), the top contender and undoubtedly the biggest fight to be made without looking outside the division.

I very much hope Maravilla will be willing to lay it on the line after the Cotto and JCC jr fights are done with.

A clear win against Chavez will get GGG closer to Sergio's "level." In the meantime, Sergio should get a payday or two before he's out the door.

He is a phony. Spent most of his prime years trying to get midgets in the ring with him. I guess if at first you don't succeed then try, try again.

Nope. Just GGG. If he's gonna talk about GGG not being on his level, he should show it in the ring.

Maybe GGG should beat Chavez, establishing himself as a meainstream name, which would earn him a big money fight, which is the only kind Martinez wants at this point

Maybe Martinez should then be stripped of his belt and go win one in the celebrity division. Ggg already does better viewership ratings anyway.

You remember Sergios adviser saying GGG should fught Stevens?

Chavez Jr is the fight that will set the territory wise thing for GGG.

The quote is actually a couple weeks old, guess it got reposted/retranslated somewhere. But yeah its about money.

If Sergio knee is functional, and he wins he will fight GGG or Canelo. Canelo is going to offer a LOT of money to the winner of this fight. This should be last fight on Martinez HBO contract.

Canelo is a SHO-GBP fighter. Martinez is in HBO stable.

With one more fight on HBO contract if I recall correctly. Which should be satisfied by the Cotto PPV fight.
