It's not that he called out PAC, it's just that he called out a guy who weight 20 plus pounds lighter than him. Can you imagine PAC calling out a featherweight and taunting him how he would knock his ass out.

Martinez doesn't deserve haters. He's done everything and more against everyone recently.

I dont see people in Europe hating on Sergio at all. Whoever says that is talking out their arse. Most his career he was fighting in Europe, he's only had a handful of fights in the states. The way I see it Martinez made his name by brutally exposing two American hype job fighters. Who all of a sudden weren't that good then despite all the nuthuggers they had before. Seems to me like you've got it the wrong way round.

To be fair though it wasnt that long since Martinez was fighting the kind of opposition that supposed bum Darren Barker has been beating. Americans seem to be experts at distorting reality, now you are all hating on Barker for taking an opportunity and Martinez for offering him one. Its not as if he is our chosen son, until recently he was a little known fighter even to me who follows a lot of boxing. I know Eddie Hearn said in the presser that Barker is well renowned in the UK but trust me thats bollocks, outside of barnet joe public wouldnt pick Barker out of a police lineup.

People who say Sergio should be moving up in weight again need to get a clue. The real reason he cant get the big fights is because due to the usual ignorance of the American punter Martinez isnt considered "box office". So any prime opponent is bringing all the money to the table as well as taking the big risk that they lose.

I think the Barker fight will sell well though. A lot of Argentines will pay to see Sergio spark out an inglese, it could be his coming home party really cos I hear he doesn't get much love other there either. Pity

He's a good fighter, but I feel he's regarded to be better than he actually is, its just he around in the right era.

Had Martinez been a MW when Jones, Hopkins, Toney, Nunn, or even Reggie Johnson were near their peak, do you think he'd still be MW champ?

Martinez has some impressive wins recently. But he needs to stop calling out fighters two weight divisions below him. That's not what a P4P great does.

He was only 1 weight division above them. Which is nothing wrong with that, specially considering it would be a huge payday for him.

Any fighter besides the elites of the divisions would fight Pac or Mayweather.

He also challenged Pac, which has the *******s raging against him, which I'm pretty sure is the main reason. #1 way to get haters on ESB? Dis Pac or challlenge him.

Honestly the calling out Pacquiao thing is a completely ridiculous reason for hating Martinez. He almost always says that he understands if Pacquiao thinks he's too small and that he thinks Mayweather is the more plausible option. Pacquiao invited such call-outs as much as anyone by paying the sanctioning fees for a belt Martinez was stripped of immediately prior to his fight with Margarito.

Him calling out Pac is fair enough. For some reason, I think Pac takes that fight and wins it fairly easily while cracking Sexy's face in.

What he shouldn't be doing is challenging Chavez Jr. for his title back. There is nothing in it for him, just a paper title that he'd probably end up losing again just because. The money isn't even there whether he wins the title or not. He'd probably get more money and challenge fighting Alvarez at 154 because it's going to be a chick magnet boxing fight.

He goes and criticizes others for fighting whoever, and he's going to fight two guys straight who doesn't even have any hope of beating him? At least with Pacquiao's last two, those were two bigger men who at least had a puncher's chance. These next two Martinez opponents have nothing, absolutely nothing for him, not even a puncher's chance.

People complaining about the mw champ wanting to fight the higher regarded ww champ literally know **** about boxing.

Pick out any of the mw greats and tell me they don't have a defining victory against the best ww of the time.

Martinez is a proper 'value for money' fighter. Rare breed indeed.
