Sergio Martinez hasn't lost in over 12 years and 35 fights IMO!

Martinez is 49-2-2 (28KO) overall but IMO he should be 52-1 (28KO) , with the only loss coming vs. Antonion Margarito in early 2000 at WW. I think we can all agree that Martinez is much better now.

Margarito was prime and Martinez had yet to peak. Martinez had no fights vs. name fighters when he took on Margarito. Since that loss he is 33-1-1 (22) overall (the loss and draw should be wins IMO, so 35-0 IMO) with wins over Richard Williams W12 and KO9, Adrian Stone KO12, Saul Roman KO4, Alex Bunema KO8, (he drew with Kermit Cintron but I though Martinez won), (he lost a MD to Paul Williams but I thought Martinez won), Kelly Pavlik W12, Paul Williams KO2, he won his last 3 by KO (Dzinziruk, Barker, and Macklin).

Anyway, if Martinez beats Chavez, and I think he will, will he get any credit for the win? I think Chavez is a very good fighter but I have a feeling that Martinez won't get much credit for beating him unless he totally dominates.

I thought Williams outworked and outlanded Martinez for a close win, but he definitely deserved the win over Cintron.

    I think he should be 51-2, 29 KO's
He just lost the Williams I fight in my book by a very slight margin, and he KO'd Cintron instead of a draw.

He is one or two fights away from his prime.

Anyway, if and when Martinez beats Chavez... will it be viewed as a good win over a good fighter or a win over an inexperienced fighter. Well, I know Chavez has 46 fights but he just started fighting guys with a pulse recently.

It will be a good win over a prime, big, strong middleweight. Probably his best win all things considered.

He's had 50 fights and holds a 'belt'

    He's not inexperienced.

His prime was pretty much the length of his WBO reign, so he was just about there. Knocking on the door. Far less green than Martinez at any rate. Six years' experience compared to two.

I think it will be viewed as a good win and will be classified as great depending on what Chavez Jr accomplishes after. Chavez Jr, although impressive in his last fights, still has an asterick next to his name with the weight issues and not taking tests after fights, IMHO.

Outworked, yeah, outlanded, no...at least not with meaningful connects.

    Wins.

    TKO, DQ, decision.. :yep

    Martinez is 3-0 against Cintron.

Margos prime was not in 2000, other than that you have a fair case

Near prime Margarito. He began his world title reign the following year.

Nowhere near prime Martinez. (who was a late bloomer even after having been a late starter in his pro career)
